Rebuilding a 1984 P200 motor. Running a stock cylinder, but may end up with a kit down the road. Currently have a Scootopia big box pipe. Going to be doing some long distance touring on the current set-up. The person I am riding with is running a 210 malossi, 60mm crank....so he is going to be a bit quicker than me.
My stock crank is in good shape, but I am interested in a 60mm crank to squeeze a bit more out of the otherwise stock set-up.

1. A friend has a 60mm Mazzi crank that is lightly used, bit cheaper than new. (a little worried about mazzi quality nd being lightly used)

2. Buy a new worb5 or pinasco crank, other suggestions?

From what I have read here, a few other places, and first-hand experience from a friend it sounds like this would provide some benefit now and more later if/when I decide to run a kit.

Is there a standard size spacer used at the base of a stock cylinder if using a 60mm crank? I have two heads, on stock, one has been modified for a better squish and higher comp. Gasket on the head either way?

Older Mazz cranks are a bit random. At half the price of a new one would be a good deal. Other wise get a new Mercur/Mazz or Pinasco crank. Standard 200 cylinder usually needs 1.5mm on the base, no head gasket and totally stock head.
Timing will need reducing if it knocks and jetting will need upping quite a bit. Not going to keep up with a 210 but will be closer.
A few other things can be done while its open, if you're interested in slipping down the rabbit hole.

Is there any easy porting or other tricks while all of this is out? Or someone to and a stock cylinder to have some nice work done?

Not sure how much this applies to a 200 but found the series interesting.

What crank inlet timings are typically better for a stock pr lightly ported stock cylinder?

That is a good article, that's the sort of simple porting that I would like to know about on the stock p200 cylinder, " raise or widen the exhaust port 1mm...."

Rebuilding the motor anyway. Shift cross was worn and I don't want to attemp a 4000 mile ride with 36 year old bearings and seals. Crank and porting would just be an effort to gain a little performance while maintaining stock cylinder.

So the first crank has close to stock inlet timings, second is a little longer, is there anything negative about running the longer inlet crank on a stock cylinder?

Ordered the long stroke pinasco crank along with the rebuild kit.
Does the stock 200 cylinder/piston respond well to widening of the exhaust or any other porting?
