Atilla, That wouldn't benefit from 100-octane gas either!!

I see vehicles like this around my small sea-side city, often several of them at the same time as they cruise the coast. Not quite my style but they are quite popular, many fully refurbished. Next Saturday, I'll go to the local car meetup at s Starbuck coffee house and take some pictures for you.

There was the NSR - tag in the tittle and I've jumped overboard already, so what the heck

Looking at those very different cars, from MacLaren and Pagani to a 50's pickup and further down to the history to the very 'squarely' shaped models - I've personally always loved boattails.

When I first saw a Buick Riviera, it was love at the first sight. Although I rode a small, sporty European car at the time, the was something about those long, curvy, lazy lines...

Only later I realized the design relation to 60's Vettes... for some reason (money, import regulations, taxes....?) there weren't many 60's Vettes around, whereas plenty of 70's models with the flatter tail.

... and later again, I realized the source of all this, 30's beautifull 'super cars', expecially the Auburn from U.S.

So, boattails for me
Buick Riviera from ~73 (?)
Buick Riviera from ~73 (?)
65' Vette
65' Vette
.. and the Auburn!
.. and the Auburn!

RRider, I'm right there with you on the boat-tail car designs and the Riviera. I still see those around here. I also see and like the original 1963 model as well, tho its not boat tail at all. I have a friend that did have one of those 1963 corvettes but it hat the split window, making it more valuable. A gorgeous design for sure.

Speaking of an Auburn, I've seen an Auburn Speedster kit car locally which is just beautiful and takes the boat-tail to an extreme. Given it was built on a large, modern V8 chassis, it might benefit from 100-octane gas.

Then, there is this almost-boat-tail, wide-ass Vespa which is gorgeous.

Best

I like my 1931 Model A Ford Tudor sedan.....not real expensive to buy, easy to operate, will pretty much hold its value, simple to work on if needed, and a real car to drive not like a modern appliance.

Of that type of Vespa i can safely say that it is the only wide-ass i like ...
If Piaggio had made the 946 more similar and with more courage i would have bought it, if only for having it in the garage ...

So, 100 octane gas.

A gas called "100 LL" is the present standard for piston engine aircraft. Any little country airport will have it, and be happy to put it in your gas cans

If you really need 100 octane, try your local little airport.
My take. YMMV.

1. No one here needs 100 octane.
2. It's "low lead" not unleaded.
3. It's illegal to use in cars on the road and you can be fined quite a bit if caught.
4. Most airport operators will not be happy to sell you a couple gallons. You'd just be a bother to them.
5. 100LL if you remove the lead, you have 94 octane motor fuel.
I can drive up to the local airport and buy AV gas no problem. Just hand them a can and this will gladly fill it up.
Get 10 gals and they will be happy, hand them one 2 gal can and they'll just look at you.

100LL is fine for vehicles with no catalytic converter. If your vehicle Has a cat, don't use it. The lead will plug up your cat and they aren't cheap.

The Fiat 500 X 1.6 E-torq has a 4-cylinder, 16-valve, single-shaft, chain-driven engine and is built in Brazil, also designed to work "completely" on ethanol; the designation is Flexi Fuel.
I know that this engine is installed on 500 X and 500 L sold in the U.S.A. just because it is suitable for the fuels that are there.
For that in Italy, even if ethanol is not yet used, those who buy it transform it to burn LPG or CNG (my 500 X E-torq is LPG).
No problem with catalyst and other mechanical parts, over 68,000 km traveled with an average consumption of 10 km per liter at EUR 0.58 per liter of LPG.

The arrow indicates the gas filter, the small cylinders (4) mounted on the intake manifolds are the gas injectors mounted subsequently.

The gas passes through the radiator to be preheated and is controlled by a pressure regulator which is in turn controlled by a separate ECU which controls the entire LPG injection system; it is sequentially phased and injects the liquid gas in a gaseous way, homogenizing combustion.
In this particular system, when you want a peak of power, the ecu provides to inject even a small part of gasoline, assisting the lower power (about 7% max) of LPG alone.
When the gas runs out, the system automatically switches to petrol and marks it with LEDs and acoustic warning.
Of course, if you wish, at the push of a button, you can also walk only on gasoline.
