i have run into some delays getting the bitubo rear shock that i wanted for my ET4 so i've started to look around for other options. I need to get a new one in there a.s.a.p. Two possibilities are Paoli and Kundo. Just thought i'd ask if anybody has had any experience with either of these brands - reliability, performance, etc., and how they compare with stock.

I've had one scooter mechanic tell me that i should 'always go with stock', but I've also heard that the stock shock isn't all that well built ... basically i'm now totally confused - please help!! cheers

i've not heard of the kundo, but i do know that paoli makes some quality products.

that being said, the stock rear shock on the ET/LX series is a pretty decent unit. it's valved well, has preload adjustability and is generally pretty affordable. however, if the performance parts aren't much more i'd pop the extra loot (that's pound sterling for youse over that side of the pond) for the slick parts.

best,

cheers greasy .... actually the kundo and paoli both come in a bit cheaper than the stock part. the bitubo, 5 quid more expensive but I've only been able to find it on pmtuning's website and they tend to be a bit dear. if i could find it cheaper, and without having to wait weeks to get it, i'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

for reasons i can't explain, even to myself, i want to go with an aftermarket shock. what's wrong with me?

hi genie,

i'm sure bitubo shocks have had a bit of a slating on MV in the past so maybe its a good thing you cant get one.
www.beedspeed.com has adjustable RMS shocks for ET's in stock. I've just put an RMS shock on my PX and its a beauty.

Ciao baby

okay, first, nothing is wrong with you. wanting to upgrade is all part of the ownership experience.

i'd go for the paoli seeing that i know what the track record is for them. the kundo is an unkown to me, so i'm kind of apprehensive to make a suggestion.

anyway, if it's cheaper and it's performance expect that it may not last as long as a stocker. but the ride will be better...

best,
-greasy

p.s. how much is 5 quid?

would that be the 'RMS sports adjustable' shock at £34.99? i was looking at an RMS on ve-uk that cost over 100 quid! i'm guessing they're different models ...

.... i think i can handle upgrading urges. however if i ever post anything that indicates i'm thinking of installing a cupholder, faux snakeskin floor mats, GPS, satellite dish, canopy, etc. .... please somebody give me a slap.

5 quid = about 10 american or canadian dollars (they're neck and neck!)

yep thats the one, mine cost me about 35 squids (for anyone in the US, thats about the same as 50 Icelandic herring )

my local scoot shop had them in stock and its solid as a rock and much better IMHO than the stock shock and as I get older and fatter I can adjust it to suit me burgeoning frock,

catch you later cock.
