2 shots of Oxford AZ for Mrs Fleece - 40c and feels like she's been run over by a train!

Looks like I will be able to get shot # 2 earlier than expected. Ontario has been spacing out 4 months between shots so everyone can get at least one. On that front we are doing well and vaccinating at a faster pace than most other nations now.

So why can I get a second shot earlier? I took the AstraZeneca which the gov't has since stopped using. We happen to have tens of thousands of doses about to expire and throwing out vaccines is something that you do not want to happen for so many reasons. Anyway looks like the supply we have now will go to those of us that got the 1st jab! I can't wait and will be first in line!

Now stopping the AstraZeneca while we need all we can get? NOT a good decision IMHO. Inform the patient as to the risks and let them decide. The odds of getting a blood clot are minimal as best.

I forget the statistics but seems like it was something like seven out of a couple million cases of the vaccine who had the clots! Have to wonder how many people out of that large number of the general population would have had the clots in an otherwise "normal" year?

Also if now they know to be prepared for the possibility of clots might the seriousness of developing them be less a problem? Are there warning signs to be on the look out for so counter measures can be put into action sooner?

That issue was terribly mishandled in my opinion. Not only was it a massive overreaction to an exceedingly rare (if not non-existent) problem - at least in the US it started a widespread loss of confidence in Covid vaccination from which we have never recovered. (the graph of increasing numbers vaccinated in the US looks like a "broken stick" before and after the J&J "pause")

I agree with Harbinger. A far more rational response would have been just to share the known information and let people make their own decision.

FWIW
My 90 year old father-in-law received his j&j shot this week (he was adamant for the “one and done” version). Happy to report he’s still just as sharp, still just as opinionated and still working away on his 20 acre farm.

"Will the vaccine connect me to the internet?" was an enquiry I heard. FFS.
I suppose it could, depending how long the battery in the microchip lasts and if they have the password.

3 daughters all had both jabs (two NHS one on health grounds) my 31 year old son will be in the next roll-out (this week).

Feels good that the family is nearly as protected as we can be 😀

Maybe!
If it had been a free connection I would have requested it myself.

In Italy the same thing happened but in the end reason (and panic ...) prevailed over the advantage received by the vaccine compared to the almost certainty of being left with various organs damaged after (if) having survived the virus.
With Pfizer, vaccinated because they are among the extremely fragile categories for pathology, I had no side effects.
PS: I must say that thanks to the mass vaccination done in England and with the almost immediate positive results, many people in Italy have succumbed to uncertainty and decided to get vaccinated.

Got my first shot on May 22nd and got kinda sick on the next day, like a very bad hangover. It was the Maderna? shot. I know I'm gonna get sick on the 2nd shot but I feel its worth it in the end.

Tried going to the mega-clinic at the abandoned mall set up by the government. I go to lock me bicycle up to a handicapped pole (because there were no bike racks around) and this security guy gives me crap. We have an exchange of words, that I now feel kinda bad about. A nurse just arriving for her shift tried to smooth it over and get me to come in anyways but I just left. I can be very acidic and I forgot my water bottle, was tired and just not in the mood. Wen't to Walgreens instead. In and out with no drama.

It is not certain ... it may be that on the second shot you will not feel anything, but a hangover is better than a bottle of covid on the head.

Like Attila said, you're not guaranteed to have a reaction to the second shot.

My wife didn't have any reaction at all. I had body aches, severe headache, and fever, for one day. My older brother had the same reaction I did. Our mother had no reaction at all. All four of us had the Pfizer shot. I could understand if my brother and I had a reaction, while my wife didn't due to genetic differences, but our mother didn't have a reaction at all, so that's not why. It could be a gender issue, though. I'll have to ask my dad if he had a reaction.

Anyway, good job on doing your part, and yes, it is worth it in the end.

Just read an interesting article which concludes that current corona virus infection rates for unvaccinated Americans are as high now as they were in January at the height of our winter spike. Not surprising, I suppose, but I would think that would catch the attention of the unvaccinated - i.e. the rest of us are not going to solve this problem for you.

California is will go back to normal on June 15 unless there's a major outbreak. That means no masks or physical distancing for fully vaxed people and stores/restaurants fully open - Many people will continue wearing masks even tho they don't need to (I'll continue to mask up for a while). Each of our 58 counties can be more restrictive as needed.

Santa Cruz County where I live hasn't had a death in a number of weeks and currently has less than a 100 active cases amongst our 330,000 residents.

Nation-wide, the USA has reached 50% fully vaccinated.

I'm hopeful the US will ramp-up vaccine exports to other countries. India really needs the world's help.

Personally speaking, I think Joe Biden has done an incredible good job working logistics, distribution, and "motivating" manufacturers to turn out product to mitigate the pandemic. One thing about Joe, vs. the last guy, is that he has 50+ years working at the highest levels of the federal government and knows what's needed and who can do it to accomplish complex government tasks.

In addition to exporting vaccines I hope his administration will also support/export logistics and distribution support, much like was done during the Ebola outbreak. There are so many places that need help. I don't know how he will prioritize them.

Again, just my opinion. Best Miguel

In Italy, the government has approved a law to oblige doctors and health professionals to get vaccinated "always"!
Whoever does not will, not find work.

Here in the Uk I've had both my vaccine shots. Had the AstraZeneca, no ill effects from either shot. My wife had both shots too. In fact the whole of my family and all our friends have had the AstraZeneca shot with no ill effects whatsoever.

I have heard of some folks getting mild to moderate chills with the first dose of any of the vaccines, whatever make. But no side effects at all with the second dose.

Our chief medical officer has made the point that evidence shows the risks from any vaccine causing you an issue is lower than from taking the birth control pill or taking either ibuprofen or paracetamol.

The fact is, just being alive is one hell of a risk!!

This from my brother that works for a commuter airline at National Airport in Washington DC.
Quote:
In March we had 20+ daily flights, and a lot of those were mostly empty. In May we have 80+, mostly full. In June we go to 107, by summer’s end 176 are planned.

Here is an article about Ivermectin that Fudmucker will find interesting.

News..

"Last fall there was research showing that antibodies vanish quickly following an infection with the virus that causes Covid-19, and this has been interpreted by the media as an indication that immunity against the disease was short-lived. ”

"However, this is a wrong interpretation of the data. It is normal for antibody levels to drop following an acute infection, but this does not mean that they disappear completely. In fact, they usually reach a plateau. In our study we found cells that produce antibodies 11 months after infection. Cells that survive, and produce antibodies, throughout the life of patients. This is a strong indication in the direction of long-lasting immunity ".

Preaching to the converted.
I totally believe in Ivermectin in both prophylactic and in clinical use.
When our government SA Health Products Regulatory Agency would not allow the use of Ivemectin, brave medical practitiones actually smuggled thousands of tablets into the country. Others (like me) did what we could and sourced veterinary Ecomectin instead (US$40 for 50ml) and started using it.

I take 2ml of 1% Ecomectin every 14 days. The most common method is the application of Ecomectin to the skin of the abdomen or buttocks.

Use it if you get The Bug.
It just may save your life.
It won't break the bank either.

Counterpoint: FDA: Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19

Ivermectin is not an anti-viral. It is an anti-parasite.

I fully agree that it is antiparasitic.
That is why it is catching flak from the 'in the box' clinical people.
As I understand, it strengthens the immune system by elminating any parasitic infections that may be present. When Covid sticks up its head, the immune system isn't distracted by other infections.
