While shifting gears it, going from 1st , 2nd, 3rd or 4th it feels and sounds rough while engaging into that gear. It is not smooth at all. It goes into gear OK but I'm concerned that eventually this might cause a tranni problem. There are only 2300 miles on the scooter. Before I start poking around, thought I'd look to the forum for some guidance. I recently changed the gear box oil but I know that isn't the problem. The shifting has been the same since I purchased the scooter a few months back.

A first step would be for you to adjust the shift cables and to check your clutch cable adjustment to be sure that the clutch is being disengaged fully.

I don't know your history with Vespas. Is this the first time that you have ever operated a scooter that has a clutch?
