Modern Vespa

Not for a Value purpose, but does anyone know how many Vintage Red GTS's were produced? In America? Total?

I was wondering why the color only lasted a short time? I know there's 3 in Denver but I haven't seen the others.

I've wondered about that, myself. I don't recall anywhere that it was set as a special edition color or anything, but Vespa seems to have treated it that way. Personally, if I was running the show, I'd keep making Vintage Red, because it obviously sells well. That, and I'd want one myself.

Vintage red was the only colour available here in Sweden for a while. Now we get black and Dragon red.

rather rare in SF bay. My store only got 10.

10 seems quit a bit. Do you think they were originally made for a market like Sweden and couldn't sell so they sent what they had left to the states?

Why was the color discontinued after such a short run? Are there other colors that had a short run? I mean Vintage green went for years.

The people who work in the Seattle shop recognize me (without my scooter) since, according to them, they sold only eight vintage red GTSs. One of which I bought!

There was only one in Tulsa the whole year - Don't know how many they got in OKC......

And I bought one of the others. 2 down, 6 to go...

Excluding Sweden, Seems rare in the US? Anymore?

But nobody know why the short color run?

I think it was always planned only to offer it for a limited time - I suspect the yellow is the same, if not the blue as well.

Well, seeing how rare the Vintage Red color is, and not everybody buys accessories for their bike, how rare then must it be to find a Vintage Red topcase for the GTS?

I've never seen one but saw one for sale on craigslist on a vintage red scooter for sale. I think it was back east somewhere. No pic so not sure what it looked like

very very rare. except if you paint them. in which case you can have as many as you want.

Mine's for sale with one of those very very very rare topboxes included in the asking price.

I have a vintage red GTS. Love the color. I saw a matching topcase in Scooter Bobby's shop last weekend! AND a vintage red GTS. They're still out there.

Uh.. we only recieved 2.

Add another vintage red in Costa Mesa CA. My dealer had to special ordered the scooter.

What's your next scoot?

I want to like the Burgman or the Majesty but I can't get into the styling and the cruiser seating position.
I love the Bonneville but I want the shaft drive of a BMW, which is where I am teetering. Back to scuffs on my boot top and no expressions of surprise when I pull past yakking cagers.Very boring.

I dont think they will be rare until they are sold out in the U.S. Seeing one at a dealer for the last 8 months not selling is telling me that thier not that rare.

However I feel its the nicest factory color that I have seen Vespa produce. IMHO of course.


At first they were charging a little more for the color and now they are discounting it...

I'm surprised they didn't take a cue from the electronics and cellphone industry and charge extra just because it's red.

Never did understand that, even beyond the "product red" charity.

Even DELL charges 50 bucks for a red laptop. or green, blue or some other interesting color beside black

This is far and away my favorite color for the GTS - I truly almost bought the one they had in Tulsa - luckily (sort of) someone else snatched it.....

That is a really pretty color.

We had at least one at the local dealer in Vancouver - but in the flesh it looked slightly more exciting than silver

Oh don't listen to me, my idea of a great color is Curt Fargo special edition yellow !

When I was buying my GTS in April I was set on Dragon Red, but then I found out there was a red called "Vintage Red' and they were hard to come by. I called all over SoCal to find one and nobody had one in stock until I called Vespa Santa Barbara. Bobby had one in stock and I bought it never having actually seen the color in person. When it was delivered I knew without a doubt that I had made the right choice. I paired it with a tan SX top case and really loved the look.

Cut to last month and my wife wants to upgrade from her LX150 to the Green GTV so we head over to Vespa Thousand Oaks. First thing I notice when walking in is that they have a Vintage Red top case for the GTS sitting on the floor. Never having seen this top case before I knew this was a pretty rare find. I debated it for 2 weeks (as I really liked my SX case) but finally decided that if I ever wanted to switch to the hard case in the future I'd better buy it now. Had the backrest re-covered to fit the seat color and now I love it and wish I had done it sooner.

That is one ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS scoot!

When I first moved to LA, I asked the guy at the dealership if he was still getting in vintage red GTS's.. He had never heard of the color and just gave me a dumb look. The next week I had his job. Heheh.. True story! The first event did not necessarily lead to the second, however..

Not sure how rare they are over here, but I was camped next to another vintage red one at the Woolacombe rally last weekend, didn't see any others that colour on site, though.

Fugger the seat colour works realy well, got my mind thinking.

Personnaly, i dont think the tan seat color matches the vintage red. It's much better with the black seat.
