What do you think a 1980, PX125 with less then 3000 miles is worth? The motor has been removed. I asked why the motor was removed and I was told told it was smoking and the valves needed replaced. I replied with, it is a two stroke isn't it? It doesn't have valves. Then I was told something about leaking oil. So who knows what is really wrong with it. It's on Facebook in Minneapolis if anyone is really interested, if he still has it this weekend I might make an offer, I'm really holding out for a 200 cc motor.

I bought my 80 p125x in really rusty frame for$450. Probably too much but the engine was clean and solid. I bought my 80 p200 which was disassembled but almost all there for$650. Just to give you an idea. Also that p150x on eBay sold for$300. If you have patience you can get something good for decent price is you are willing to do some mechanic work on things that others won't look at simply cause they want pristine ready to drive.

In my mind, a scooter with original paint, no bondo and no accident damage is worth paying top Dollar for. I hate rot, bondo, new sections welded in, and any chance of the frame being out of line. Engines can be sourced easily and of course you can rebuild them, replace parts and tune them to your heart's content.

Most 40 year old P series will have seen some action, so if this one really does have less than 3000 miles on the clock and is in great condition, it's worth having IMHO. In the UK, I'd be very happy to pay £500 (~$650).

you say the motor has been removed, but is it included or not? The first time I read your post I assumed no motor included, but now that I read it again it isn't clear.

I think the guy is asking in the $1400.00 US range, seems a bit high to me, but maybe i'm a cheapskate. I was thinking in the $500.00-$600.00 range. If it was a P200 I would have already driven the 1.5 hours to look at it.

The motor is supposed to be there, I just don't know why it was really removed and the condition, it might be junk with a cracked case.

with engine out and no proper explanation of why, I'd not go over $1000 (assuming very very good condition), and probably significantly lower would be more proper ($750?).

Use greasy's formula for value....

Not running is half off
Taken apart is half off

If it's missing paperwork (title) deduct for the hassle of Vermont registration

Sounds like a $500 scoot to me

i'd say 500~750

mitigating factors: if it's super clean and rust free and wearing really nice or presentable paint and the tank is clean and it's mostly unmolested... maybe as high as a grand, depending on the title situation.

you can get it running and then take your time finding/piecing together a P2 motor.

sight unseen, prolly tree-fiddy. i'd take a flyer at that kinda coin.

It has a rattle can paint job, atleast parts of it. Body looks straight but that's a sub $1000 bike. The valve answer is sketchy since I think that's being sold through a shop in the north suburbs. offer 500-750. Doesn't say anything about a title.

Spray bomb paint, that is what I was missing. Looking closer the speedometer trim ring is painted, the leg shield trim is painted and so is the fender crest. Looks like plates and badges have been painted around also. . I asked about a clear title well see if I get an answer. Starting to remind me of buying a used car from a shady dealer. With the low mileage it doesn't make since.

I agree the more I look at it and people point a few things out the less interesting it looks.

If it's the place I'm thinking of they are alright, I think a vintage is out of their wheelhouse and just have no idea.

rattle bombed p125 with the motor out and questionable title?

no more than 500

i'd show with 350 cash and present the facts-- if the tags/title are legit and you don't get rat-fucked on that, then a smooth 5 is okay. worst case you could break it for basically what you paid for it and wind up chaotic neutral.

but yeah, i wouldn't drive 1.5hr to see a rattle bombed p125 with the motor out and a big question mark on the tags title situation from some know nothings trying to pimp it for beaucoup bux

to me, that thing sounds like it's damn near parts.

I'm not familiar with any shops in the cities, so I have no idea who it would be. The more I think about it, the more it looks like a pile of work and parts. The paint job is discouraging and makes me wonder what else has been done like that off what is being covered up.

If anyone else is interested don't let me stop you. I don't think I feel like making a 3+ hour round trip, excursion to look at it. Well see if it is still around this weekend. Might shoot a lowball offer on Friday and see what happens.

I agree, I've dealt with parts and basket cases just not my favorite. Always seem to be a handful of parts that got lost.

I just know I put all the parts in the blue tub here. Except for the few I forgot, and are lying beside or behind the workbench.

Not to mention the few parts added to the bin from other unrelated projects, like rebuilding my buddy's lawn tractor.

But don't shoot him a lowball offer on email or text.... show up with the Benjamin's or don't.

That's my favorite at work, I keep telling my guys to sweep the shop floor before you work on something so you know anything left on the floor is yours. Especially when taking a lift or electric wheel chair apart, it never fails I spend 20 minutes looking through a parts manual to come to the conclusion, that a bolt size isn't listed in the parts manual. It came from something else but what?

Yeah, same here too.

Gobs of "extra hardware" in the back room. And a whole lot of "don't use those screws, they're crap". If that's the case, why are we holding onto them ?

And mounting brackets that are out of date, they're good for nothing, except the mythical customer who just might come in looking for it.

Good grief, Charlie Brown!
