So yesterday I had my first bad scoot day. What happened was I went to work like any other normal day and parked my scoot in my works parking garage, same place I park everyday. well yesterday there was a new guy coming in and he (the idiot) backed into my spot without looking and knocked my scooter down to the ground. There was minimal damge but i am still pissed. So I just wanted to know where everyone else parked there scooter? on the sidewalk or in a spot?

Sorry to hear you got tapped...though not yet a victim myself (knocking on wood) I asked the same question as the parking landscape is very auto-centric and ripe for such mishaps...a number of good suggestions were posted here: Best Scoot Parking Practices? ⚠️ Last edited by Dongoose on UTC; edited 2 times

Do something about it: grab a long piece of wood, hammer some two dozen 1 1/2 inch nails separated by the width of your rear scooter tyre, put it in front of where you would guess the rear tires would be before the bumper of this jackass would hit your scoot, then drill the wood piece to the cement or tarmak. Optional, varnish the wood to prevent it from decaying from sun and rain.

My college has free motorcycle parking so I park there.
At work, I don't use up a parking spot. I park my scoot right in front of my shop, underneath the overhang. |

I say "eye for an eye". Wit till his car is peacefulfly sleeping in its parking spot, then ram your scoot full speed into his front end. Good ol' fashioned retributive justice!

I have heard way too many stories like this, and thus, I have only once parked my scoot where a cager could. It was at Home Depot on Sunset.. Has anyone found any good scooter spots there? I didn't check on the roof..

In all serousness, I had that happen to a BMW bike I used to have. The think was this giant adventure touring monster of a bike. Li'l old Suzuki Samurai just whipped into the space, and blam-o!...new front end on my Beemer.
After that, I got a tip to always park toawrd the "rear" of a cager space. I still parked so that I and my girlfriend-at-the-time could park side-by-side, but back towards the "entrance-side" of the spot, away from the curb or bump-stop. Never had a problem after that. Sure, avoid cager spaces when possible, but when you HAVE to...try that, it may help. And it can't hurt, unless you're intent on parking four scoots in one spot. Actually, it works then too. |
