I noticed this when I got home today, the strange squeaking door noise every couple of seconds which goes away when the fuel cap is unscrewed:

which sounds a lot like this:
Weird moaning sound coming from my Vespa?!

described here:
FAQ: Why does my GTS groan/moan/moo or fart when off?

As specifically not affecting the European GTS. What's going on? I've never noticed this before. Could it be because fuel is running low on a hot day when I've been on the motorway or something? Or they added the evap to EU models?

Mine moans too. Mostly on hot days. Nothing to worry about. As you say it alleviates when you remove the petrol cap. It's just the fuel gases reacting to the heat. Not sure if this is a trait of the gts. My other bikes don't make this noise.

I believe it has been posted here that the Euro 5 Vespas have an evap control system.

But this is a 2018 which I think is Euro 4 not 5? fledermaus may be right, it's not happy at staying home so much!

I'm getting out of my depth here, but this article states that the Euro 4 standard for fuel evaporation and the Euro 5 standard are the same. Perhaps Euro 4 Vespas have an evap control system as well. Surely some of the European members here with a strong tech background know the answer to that question.

Give it a few news articles to read and it will understand why it needs to stay home. The scooter is Italian after all so it has to understand...
