Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but really hoping someone can help me with this issue I'm having. I own a piaggio fly 125. It is a bit old and I just changed the battery yesterday after leaving it outside for over a year. The scooter starts, but it does not get into high rpm for some reason. Instead it starts shaking like crazy and doesn't make the wheel turn fast enough. I thought it might be something to do with the clutch, rollers or the variation, but I started it without the cvt cover on and it seems to be an engine problem and not transmission problem. I'm a bit lost as to what I should check. I video taped it to get a better idea of what I mean:
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

(Sorry, couldn't see the video.)

It's a carbureted engine, right?

Did the bike have any problems before you parked it? Did it run ok before you tried with CVT cover off (I believe doing this is bad for the engine; it needs the bearings in the cover).

What did you see inside the cover? Belt looks ok? Bolts torqued down correctly?

The bike had problems before I parked it, it was the same thing before but I just left it since I didn't have the time to fix it. The problem was always there before it took the cover off as well. It is a carbureted engine. Inside everything seemed normal, and bolts were torqued down properly.

How come you weren't able to see the video?[/b]

The link worked. Thanks, Dooglas! (The forum has an issue where embedded videos do not work with Chrome browser.)

Have you cleaned and inspected the carb? In particular, is the slide diaphragm free of any tears and seated properly? I believe problems here will prevent the bike from being able to rev up.

You mentioned the bike is older, but didn't give a year? How many miles on it?
