Hi guys,

Back from winter break. So my 2016 MP3 500 has over 8500 miles, and it's almost time for tire change due to wear. What's a reasonable cost to have all 3 tires replaced? Is $800 to $1000 reasonable?

That's $800 to $1000 parts and labor, all inclusive.

Figure less than $200 for all three tires. Last time I did all three it was less than $200 including three bottles of RideOn.
And I can dismount, mount, static balance, and install all three tires in less than four hours myself.
So even at $100 labor, and a shop that is no faster than I am, you're looking at $600.

But then, I live in cheap Wisconsin, so there's that.

If you came to Russia, you could change tire at a tire workshop for $1,5 each (yep, $4,5 for all the work), except they don't balance motorcycle type tires

That's Expensive... OMG Crying or Very sad emoticon
I would say less than $200 for the three tires purchased online shipped.

Now for the installation?

Me personally, I have the two MP3's, and the Vespa.
I have spare sets of rims for all of my bikes.
My 2016 rims came from easyparts.nl, and with shipping to the US it was like 1/3rd the price the US Sellers charge. My other Rims for my 2009 MP3, and the 2012 GTS came from ebay. All looked brand new from part-out bikes.

So I drop the rims off with the new tires at a motorcycle shop.
Tell them to mount when they have time, and call me when done.
Maybe you will pay as high as $60 to $100.

or...

I have paid as little as $10 each at some of these "Used Tire Sellers' that work out of a garage on the side of the road. You pay then Cash...

Time to learn how to work on your bike...

Remove the old Rims from your bike, install the newly mounted tires and rims. Buy some CounterAct Balance Beads. 2 oz in each rim, make sure you don't have any of the old weights still on the rims.

Your Done Clown emoticon Clown emoticon

Store your removed tires/rims, prep them over time for your next tire swap.
This is how I do it...

Good Luck,
Keith

FYI: Tire prices have gone up, Back tire for my BV350 150/70x14 was $98

Current prices for City Grips:
140/70-14: $87.74 + tax (free shipping)
120/70-12: $118.78 (includes tax and shipping, 2 tires)

So you can get all 3 tires for an MP3 500 delivered to your home for $206.52.

And that was a quick check; they could be out there for a bit less.

I agree with the cost of the tires under $200 and having a dealer or shop do the demount and remount and balance should be no more than $35 per tire off the scoot. ( that's you taking them them tires and rims in) now if they are on the scoot I would estimate an additional 1 hr labor to remove and reinstall the rims on the scoot. So depends on you local hr rate but it should be approx $100 for that.

I finally decided to change my rear Tire on my MP3 500

Michelin City Grip 140/70-14 $85.98
Multi Tire changer for Motorcycle 4" to 16.5" $155.11
No-Mar Tire Changer bar/rod $160.65
Elbow grease $0

I was using the harbor freight Tire changer before
Finally decided to buy a better Tire changer and buy the No-Mar Tire changer...what a difference

Almost $320 investment but it's a one time cost that will save me money and time.

You mean you got the No Mar tire removal/install bar for $160?
Because I got a deal on a used No Mar Tire changer and it was still $600 for the tire changer

I got their bar/rod only for $160. My tire changer is something different but I wanted the No-Mar bar... which I believe is the best tool to use if you don't want to damage your rim.

Yep, yellow thing really helps. I have the POSI-CLAMP® WHEEL CLAMPING SYSTEM too, they came with it, have never used them.
If anyone needs them, let me know.
