Hi, new to site and Vespa's. Just got a 2006 GT200 and everything works great except the electric seat opener still works when ignitition and steering column in locked position. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks.

If the bike was ever stolen or in a flood, there is a chance that someone had to rewire some of it, and somehow that's on a live circuit now.
Figure out which fuse is supposedly inline with the switch, and remove it. If the switch still works, it's been rewired. If not, it's probably something you're going to have to track down in the harness, and you might find the entire circuit has been rewired so it's always on.

I had this on my 2007 GTS 250 after I swapped out a faulty ignition switch.

Although the replacement looked identical and was supposed to be for my scoot the internal contact tracks turned out to be different. A similar switch is used in various Aprilia, Derbi, Gilera, Piaggio and Vespa scooters

A switch sourced from another supplier put things right

It could be that yours has had an incorrect replacement switch too?

Both of the above may be the case. I've seen the wrong ignition switch cause this on a GTS125. Again, changed the switch out and it fixed the problem.

Thank you all very much. I'll do the fuse check and then try a new ignition switch. That looks like a very inexpensive part.

And it's one of those things that's very worth while having as a spare - your current one being your spare.

What would be nice was if the seat switch was active for about 30s after the ignition was turned off (regardless of steering locked or not).

What I do is adjust my seat latch so that when I sit on the seat it doesn't actually close until I thump it. So my seat stays open unless I want it locked. Very convenient out here where thieving is relatively uncommon - but I wouldn't do this back in the UK...

Thanks again. Once accessed, is the ignition switch an easy swap out?

Extremely easy.

There's just a wire clip that has to be removed (puls out easily with pliers) and the switch almost falls off the back. Just make sure the cut-out in the actuator is in the same place on the new switch as the old, locate it on the ignition barrel and insert the clip.
