Modern Vespa

Greetings,

i'm thinking of replacing the stock pipe on my sprint to an aftermarket one but i'm kind of confused which one should i get. My local shop has these brands in stock :

-Spark
-Polini
-Akrapovic
-Malossi
-Arrow

Of all the brands above which one offers the best performance?, or the performance gains are so miniscule that i should just choose by the looks of the pipe?. Thanks.

The one that Piaggio put on at the factory is my favorite

I'm using a Malossi pipe with a red malossi filter. I also recently installed a TC O2 lambda controller and the scooter pulls a lot better than stock. It's a bit noisier too even with the silencer on so it's something to consider.

Aftermarket exhausts are generally a lot lighter than the stock and are made with stainless steel, titanium and CF which resists rust. I think the brands you mentioned (at least polini, Malossi, akrapovic and arrow) are pretty much similar in terms of build quality.. its really more of choosing the look you prefer.

Thanks for the opinion!, i think i will go with the akra, after watching soundclips i prefer the sound, it has a deep tone to it and it's not obnoxiously loud. By the way is the o2 manipulator mandatory?, or the stock ecu is enough for the job?.

I did quite some research on the O2 lambda sensor and it just felt that it would complement the exhaust and red air filter well. Basically it alters the signal the O2 sensor produces to improve the A/F mixture which tends to lean out when you change exhausts. This works basically on lower RPMs but gets negated when you're doing WOT. It's not mandatory but I just felt that it would complete the system hence I got it.

The scooter felt a bit stronger accelerating which I appreciate especially when overtaking in urban traffic.
