2014 lx does anyone have a rough estimate on what a dealer or a gas station charges to replace a rear tire if I have the tire? I do not know if a service station can do a 10 inch wheel. Thank you

Are you just dropping off the bike and the tire? Or will you remove and reinstall the wheel yourself?
Shop rates vary a lot by region, but for my LX I've been quoted 1h for full removal and reinstall. But I always remove wheel myself, in which case the fee is about 20 min labour + cost of a new valve stem. |

No harm in asking a service station. Who knows, they may have had enough requests that they got set up for smaller wheels. Good luck!

Try cycle gear in Springfield or one of the motorcycle shops in Woodbridge. If they do ATV tires they can do 10 wheels.

I have a guy who does it for $30 just for mounting it on the rim. He has done for years and no scratches.

There is an ACE hardware with repair shop near me. They will do it for $10. No machine really necessary. Check trailer repair shops near you. They can do it.

Two trailer shops fairly close . They can do it but could not guarantee the wheel of not getting damaged (30.00) I think I will drive the 100 mile trip. Thanks

Well instead of going to the Vespa dealer I decided to take a chance at a atv shop about 6 miles away. They said they have a I think(Coates machine) that could handle it .After about 25 minutes after they took the wheel and tire in the shop he came out to tell me they had a problem .the machine broke the wheel at the sealing edge and cut the new tire. They cut me a check and came home. I ordered a new wheel, tire .valve stem, and had them assemble the whole thing $35.00 and ship. From Scooters West. I had to absorb the lost.

I use a local Honda Powersports dealer. Off the scooter/carry in its $40 to install if I buy the tire from someone else or $20 to install if I buy it from the shop. The shop has always been fair on tire prices, plus they verify I don't get a old stock tire and warranty it if I buy it thru them. The shop uses irons on 10" wheels and they have never left marks or dings on the lip of the rims. They know their stuff. I usually buy whoever mounts the tire(s) lunch when done.
If you carry the wheel in off the scooter just be sure to mark the tire rotation on the rim. I also clean the wheel before bringing it in. I can pre-check for damage, and easier to post check when done. And always replace the valve stem when changing a tire. Use a reputable cycle shop and leave that ATV shop a bad review to help warn others. Good luck! |

sweet jesus, how do you break a rim?!?
anyway... go get a bead breaker from harbor freight and buy some decent tire irons from cycle gear or online and just save yourself the headache and do it yourself next time. if you were able to get the wheel off, then you can certainly hustle a tire easy money. just remember two things: new valve stem first and then double check the direction of the tire before putting it on. -g |

Thanks for all the information.I actually had to go back to the atv shop this morning to pick up my glasses.the person I was talking to last night was the owner. it was his son that damaged the wheel and tire. He told me that his son did not set up th machine right and this was the second time this happened. After talking to him he told me to bring the invoice from Scooters West and he would take care of the rest. Total $226.00. Thanks again and I do have a tire iron kit ordered from Amazon.
