Hi,

I had a few hours to kill today, so I decided to fit a battery tender in the kick panel next to my 12v charger. My trickle charger came with a extra connector that plugs into the cable, rather than using the crocodile clips, and that came in handy, fitting it to the kick panel!

The only tricky part was guiding the wires from the battery connector, up behind the glovebox, and into the kick panel. Apart from that, it was pretty straightforward!

Nice job.

So basically it is still connected directly to the battery?

Will you be able to monitor the battery status when unplugged from the electric source?

Nicely done. I did something similar to my GTS recently. It sure makes it convent to hook up a battery tender.

Good job.

One thing I do now is I ALWAYS ask that a pigtail be attached when I buy a new bike. Makes attaching a tender to it so much easier. Lots of dealerships do it here now anyway and the Motorrad manager told me he does it just to make it easier to ensure the showroom bikes batteries are charged.

Yep, it's directly connected to the battery- I can get the battery status directly from my SIP speedo.

This is proving to be very handy when I store the scoot away for the winter, and I can check to see how much voltage is reaching the battery from the trickle charger itself!

Thinking ahead then. You will always know if your rectifier is bad.

If
If your dealer does it, be sure the polarity is correct. That job probably goes to the least-experienced grease money.

Some tenders will also draw current from the battery if they are left connected and unplugged. So if you leave it connected all the time, be sure the plug doesn't get knocked out of the wall-socket accidentally. Ask me how I know.
