Modern Vespa

I park on the street overnight. If I put warm gear on my Vespa, I don't trust the homeless people to leave it unmolested. But, it would be nice to stay warm on my nighttime rides.

It looks like the Tucano Urbano handlebar muffs bolt onto your handlebars. Any thoughts on what would happen if I got a pair and didn't bolt them on? I suspect it would be fine so long as I kept both hands on the bars while moving. I could toss them under the seat when I parked.

That kind of gear is absolutely going to get molested on outdoor-cat scooters. It'll take more time than it's worth to install and remove them every time you ride, compared with...just wearing a cheap pair of ski gloves.

The muffs should be fine. I had them for years in london and no-one ever messed with them. Once you leave them on for a winter they become very used looking and sun faded.

I never worried about my muffs being stolen in London - which I'm sure has a worse pilfering problem than SF. Even in Paris, where no-one leaves anything under the seat or in a top-box, muffs and thermoscuds are left on without being touched. I can't really see their attraction for thieves.

I "borrowed" * a BMW bike one night in Paris - but never messed with bar-muffs, or skirts.
