Modern Vespa

The glovebox on my GTS began to get tricky to open. Having read about broken hinges on MV a few times I wanted to prevent such an occurrence! It turned out that just one of the hinge plates had a loose screw - but only by one turn! That was enough to make it hard to open, much more and the plastic hinge bits might have broken, causing far more aggro.

So I'm putting this out there as a reminder - that if your glovebox gets tricky to open, remove it and tighten those screws before it becomes impossible to open without breaking it!

I've had this happen several times.

You don't have to take the glovebox all the way off. You can leave the fuse box, electric and cable seat releases hooked up.

I tried thread locker on the screws but still had them come loose so now I use super glue. If that doesn't work next time I'll use epoxy.

When I open my glovebox door, I catch it and lower it down gently. I'm sure letting the door spring open and bounce on it's hinges helps with the hinge screws becoming loose.
