Seems like too good to be true.. any thoughts from those of you with a Lambretta?
I'm interested in grabbing this, but seems like its a scam.

looks like it might've been a former SEA resto judging by the underlying metal work.
but it appears to have electronic, so some work has been done. if there's a clear lineage of history or provenance, then that's not a bad price at all. especially if it runs. -g |

Key line in here: "was running when took apart "
So it's a box of parts. And he started doing the work himself. And this photo says a lot. He sprayed some primer without disassembling the frame, or even removing the rear badge. ??

I'm ok with a box of parts was long as they are legit and not bodgery. In fact i prefer a box of parts! Usually cheaper that way.

The seller has a bunch of other listings, including the old seat, and another for the bike with different photos. So hard to tell. That bike has probably been stripped down and repainted five times in 50 years. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/398367591209547/?ref=product_details&referral_code=undefined https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/391855585150996/?ref=product_details&referral_code=undefined

I had seen his other listing for this scoot for a while but was suspect of it cause he listed it as a v special which is what i thought was a new model using the name under questionable license, which didn't match the pictures he posted. So i ignored, until i just saw a second posting with correct model number. I'll have to go see if it exists or is some fake posting. Also questionable cause it's listed on Staten island but the guy lives in Brooklyn. Guess that's possible but it's red flag to me.

SX150 for sale
This is most likely a real ad. The SX150 is not that desirable a Lambretta on the scale of collectability or value, despite possessing much of the nicer panel work seen on some of the Specials and some TV's (not the televisions). The gearbox, for one, I have heard more serious Lambretta aficionados than myself call them the worst Innocenti ever made. It is not a fast scooter by any means and most Lambretta riders would rather have a Special 150 in the same price range as it has the much improved gearbox (one very well suited to performance upgrades as well). Of course this is just my two cents, and if you love SX150's, far be it for me to rob you of that joy. I am just adding a bit of context to why I believe the price to be in line with the value of what is being offered.

If it's close enough to visit. Could be worthwhile.
He's an original SX 150. It looks like it's all the same body. http://suprememotos.com/lambretta/61665-1968-lambretta-sx150-original-paint.html |

If it was low hanging fruit for a great price just cause it's in pieces i was considering it, but if it's adequately priced for a meh model then I've got other projects to spend money on. Just kept seeing it listed and since it's close i figured why not take a look. |

ahhh... i missed the "ran when taken apart" portion.
add that to the interesting looking metal work, and the questionable bodywork? ehhh... *shrugs* if you're close, maybe go look at it. ask a bunch of questions, see what shakes out. personally, i'd pass on that. -g |

Seller says its assembled except all the panels pictured removed. Sent photo of frame number which matches advertised. No photo of engine number as asked. Could be something there. Might go see it just to see its condition and how much wiggle room there is.

Looks like it was built from a box of many bits. Toolbx and door, and airbox, rear mudguard and fuel tank all different from each other. Chrome front rim standard rear. Cant make out if they are different coloured hubs.
Still for the money they go for over here in the UK it would be worth a punt. Not sure about the US. |
