I don't need it. Don't want it.
My Liberty150i is locked away, or never out of my sight. Besides, it's light enough to toss in a trunk if they want it. What do I care if they'll have trouble starting it!

Any simple way to make this scoot start like any other non-Piaggio product? You know, get a key from hardware store, start it and ride away with a smile?
Can AF1-Racing do it?
Anyone?

Thanks, O.S.

A simple way to effectively disable the immobilizer system would be to permanently mount a key chip in range of the antenna. In other words, install a chip somewhere that the immobilizer system always senses the security key nearby. Then a regular key in the key slot should be able to turn the barrel so you can start the bike.

That said, I suspect you are looking to actually remove the system (presumably to have one less thing to break? or is the system actually causing trouble somehow?). This would be more involved and I'm not sure how to do it on the newer model bikes. On older bikes, like the ones I ride, you could replace the CDI with an aftermarket one (like Malossi) that does away with the security input.

Checked with AF1-Racing. ....
Friendly & quick reply to me was that there is no way to delete the immobilizer, and that it has been " very reliable " for their customers.
So maybe sc00ter's was the rare malfunction?

His immobiliser hasn't malfunctioned - but the antenna that feeds it has probably been compromised. Usually it's just a dodgy connector, a reseat does the job. Sometimes the antenna/receiver has to be replaced, but the immobiliser as such is working just fine!

I was told by the dealer that it's a very isolated incident. I trust my Piaggio dealer. The service bay is closed until Dec. 8th before they can get to it because their moving to a new location. I'll post their findings when I get them. Unlike what failed in the rear end (again, isolated) I'll be sure to find out what failed this time. Still love my Liberty but it only gets ridden a few miles on weekends nowadays.

Thanks. Good to hear.
Not to make too fine a point of it, but --- walking is walking.

Thanks sc00ter, look forward to your report.
When installing the side stand on my Liberty I purposely did not hook up the lock-out switch. I've never had a problem with inadvertently leaving ione down - and do not want one more possible reason for a 'no-start' miles from home on a 23°F ride.
One day in my destination village it took 3 of us to sort out why a Honda scooter was refusing to start. It was the side stand switch....and this was on s summer's day.
My dealer is a 2 day walk, not a Scooter emoticon !

Sadly
With everything being computer-controlled, likely need to 'reflash' the firmware to eliminate the check. I suspect it can be done, at least in theory, but perhaps at considerable cost and time spent experimenting.

I suspect if someone offered a kit to do it, thefts would rise substantially, as thieves would have an easy avenue for revitalizing stolen scooters. Probably have to be offered through dealers only, where you bring in the scooter, and title, before they'd sell it to you.

But I'd be happy to do it to my BV. One less thing to go wrong. It is locked in a garage at home, and rarely out of my sight when away from home.
