I can't see you just building this thing. At the end of the process, unless you come out of with at least 3 major pieces of machinery and a couple of years practice, you'll be very disappointed.

This is a picture of the most complex english wheel I found, so it would probably be perfect for you - once you fixed it up.

given the size of most the things on a scooter, I've been looking at the baby eastwood (or copies). Sides look thicker than 1/4, maybe 1/2?

the rollers are the hardest part and the rest I could modify/redesign as time goes on.
