If you're going to fab a sidecar, this video will probably be of interest, CM.

That looks like something I want to try! The only things holding me back are $100K worth of specialty tools and 20 years of aircraft aluminum fab experience. ROFL emoticon

Seriously though, amazing stuff.

I thought the same thing: "It's all easy with the proper ($$$) tools and the ability to use them."

Even lacking that, he does a great job of explaining his design/problem solving process. Plus he's pretty entertaining while he does it.

zero expensive tools here, but still a lot of skill:

So what y'all are saying is, other than talent and ability, I should be able to crush this project.

It's coming…

I can't see you just building this thing. At the end of the process, unless you come out of with at least 3 major pieces of machinery and a couple of years practice, you'll be very disappointed.

This is a picture of the most complex english wheel I found, so it would probably be perfect for you - once you fixed it up.

Oh my god.
I am totally going to build that.
Have been shopping for 3 months looking for a cool one.

Off to search where that photo came from.

While the aesthetic is really nice, the load paths look not thought out at all. Design for stiffness!

Think it's based on the classic cast iron ones I covet.

But as soon as I saw this - I thought - you could build it tab and slot from waterjet cut 1/4" steel.
Weld tabs and it would be rigid as …

Inspired.

given the size of most the things on a scooter, I've been looking at the baby eastwood (or copies). Sides look thicker than 1/4, maybe 1/2?

the rollers are the hardest part and the rest I could modify/redesign as time goes on.

Those are nice suggestions, but we all know Ned will eventually post pictures of the Wheelinator 9000 that he found for free on Craigslist if he'd just come haul it away.

If only…

OCT - those are cool. Just don't know if quite large enough for my fab desires…

CM - guy from those vids u posted is crazy talented. Does things very simply. Obviously has a great deal of experience and experimentation in his background.
