I've ordered the shocks, now the anxious wait that I'll be happy with them (be able to adjust to a nice comfort)

Let us know how it goes. I imagine it'll be about the same as the Bitubo's. I went with those (all 3) in red. TBH mostly because I wanted red and my Piaggio dealer had them in stock!
Enjoy! They do make a difference and glad you went with all 3. So what's next? |

Tell us how it works out. Usually "performance shocks" and "nice comfort" don't fit in the same sentence.

Brembo require a special mounting bracket for the front that looks untidy and messy. I don't know what they have for the rear. I went for Frando callipers on my 2018 model. They work as well and look far neater.

those look high quality. I think you will be pleased. a well designed shock does indeed improve both handling and comfort.

All installed but not tested (so yes, that preload on the front is very wrong)

Those look nice and SIP branding carries some assurance the product has had decent R&D.
One thing I noticed when I upgraded to the Malossi shocks was the thickness of the springs and the progression of the coils - seemed much beefier than the OEM. At the same time I upgrade to Poly bushings in the rear. Clauss Studios make a set for a very reasonable cost. They do a very good job of tightening up the play in the rear. |

I did notice the diameter of the springs is significantly larger, meant that although I could get the original right rear off with out removing my Arrow exhaust there was no way to get the sip back in. I considered the clauss ... thinking I might get them next year when I am planing on replacing the brakes with brembos. not now as I want to experience the sip first and also shipping from germany is way expensive |

is this still considered a good way to set preload https://modernvespa.com/forum/wiki-proper-way-to-adjust-shock-preload ?
seems to match other stuff |

How Timely...
The time is approaching when I'll need to switch out Melody's original shocks, and the mention here of SIP's own branded shocks adds yet another wrinkle for me: I'd pretty much decided to bite the big pricey bullet and have Bitubos all around, but then came word, via my dealer, that Öhlins has thrown its (likely crazier-expensive) hat in the scooter-shock ring, eventually reaching the States...eventually. No idea how much they'll cost, other than the likelihood that they'll come in North of Bitubo's prices. Another unknown is compatibility: there's a publicity photo from Öhlins clearly showing their front shock on a GTS with ESS front end (like mine), but nowhere else can I find information to confirm that what they'll ultimately be offering will include this compatibility. With my dealer, a Bitubo set will have me in for about $1k, including installation. Not certain what Öhlins can offer over Bitubo besides slightly extra cool-factor (for the 2% of people who'd notice, let alone care, and only in terms of the front unit).

I went with Bitubo front and rear and am happy with them. TBH any of the high end performance shocks are going to better than stock and reviews will vary by individual.

1 year later and still happy.
Slightly disappointed that the satin/matt black has faded to brown/bronze. |

I was wondering how the shocks performed in terms of comfort. Are they progressive?
Do they tend to bottom out? etc. |

But still the bronze style is cooler than the total black..nice set up man.
The only thing that i would worry about is that in case of absorber fault or service (maybe no maintenance needed though) would the dealer fix it or SIP will have to cover it? This is mainly the reason that i would go with Bitubos. They have a good aftersale service as a brand. |

The reason i decided that i could have reasonable confidence in the build quality is two reasons: I'm pretty sure they come from the same factory as the zelioni who had been selling them for longer than sip had and also because sip had been selling their brand suspension for several years for older Vespas such as the px. So yes it was their first foray into gts suspension but i crossed my fingers and haven't regretted |
