I saw Roland Sands do this TMAX and it's so wild. Wanted to see if any of you guys have modded the body or frame?

Don't
I don't see the point. Looks cool in your garage (or living room), otherwise a lot of money for a scoot that is probably less functional and comfortable to ride. With no rear fender, technically illegal in my state. No DOT turn signals either, headlight probably isn't legal. Doesn't appear to be a cat on the exhaust, so not emissions-legal, if they check where you live, and probably loud with the small mufflers. A LEO having a bad day would go to town on you.
I get the point of such styling exercises. But I want a scooter that is safe, reliable, functional, and doesn't draw attention. And that I enjoy riding. If a mod is not in service of one of those, it doesn't happen. So my BV is about 99% OEM. Probably the only mod I'd do would de-combine the brakes. But I haven't yet seen a kit to do it. And I'm not sure that the benefit would outweigh the cost. It would certainly simplify maintenance, though. |

I got a Honda Silverwing dumped on me awhile back that would be a perfect candidate for a full custom. I gave it to a friend but I don't think he ever got the project off the ground. Buy something wreaked (my free Silverwing) if you plan on going custom. I think the Silverwing is up for grabs again. Free, just come and get it!

I get it, I totally do. Dude I've come from a long list of semi comfortable motos that I've made uncomfortable lol This is my first scoot and that being a maxi scoot. I am bloooown away from the comfort and ample storage on this beast. It's just fun to see what others have done as this branches out ideas that can be had on normal-ish bikes I do wish it had dual calipers in the front tho sc00ter: yea that'd be the best idea on getting a wrecked bike to do this to. I'd hate to rip off perfect pieces of my bike If I was closer I'd jump up on that SilverWing and tear her apart. Thx |

Motovista wrote: ]So, in not quite so many syllables, your answer to the OP's question would be, "You kids better stay the hell off my lawn."? I have friends that spend endless hours and considerable money fixing up junkers and modding bikes. On the occasions I've ridden with them, usually at least one unscheduled stop to fix something. Maybe they are in it for the adventure. I just want to ride. To me, an OEM bike is a happy bike. I maintain 6 motor vehicles, not to mention the lawn equipment. I get enough wrench time. If I can't feel an obvious improvement when riding, I'm not interested. If I was concerned with what other people thought of my vehicles, I probably wouldn't be riding scooters. Certainly don't need someone congratulating me on my good taste to prop up my faltering self-esteem. Perhaps the winter, and the lack of riding, is bringing my curmudgeonly aspects to the fore. |

I enjoy building stripped down scooters. it is a tremendous pitfall of my time. the big benefit for me is getting the weight off. challenging but fun to make them look good again. the current uglies.
the helix. stock 350lbs naked 280lbs ![]() the majesty stock 456lbs naked 380lbs ![]() ![]() the mp3 stock 575 naked 480 ![]() problem for me at this point, is its hard to spend time working on them when they are sooo much fun to ride. they just rip with the weight off. and I only weigh 160. so theres that. inspirations. cool finished bikes like this

![]() the tmax is extremely hard to find cheap and worthy of a strip down. and it doesnt loose alot of weight when stripped. hard to get 50lbs off them. but its a fast scooter stock. faster than the 2009 43hp specs suggests. and I have never seen a bv350 naked build. it does have a nice looking frame. |

Those scooters need their clothes back on! In my area you would get stopped by the police. When we built Zuma 50s we would run them pretty naked while dialing them in. Naked scooters look stolen and of course, cops stop to check. But some of those above don't look that bad naked.

![]() here cops dont bother people for no reason. as luck would have it I got stopped for speeding the day after tag expired. although let go with a warning he didnt believe my story. " registration says bike is RED" "is that even the tag for this bike?" |

Silverwing owner (Arnie) said you were making arrangements to get it. I remember the battery is deader than dead, the hot-wire ignition works flawlessly and it does run. Rather well I must add. The title should be in the prior-prior owners name and the title was signed if I recall. The guy I got it from (Jeff) never registered it in his name and rode it like a moped with a expired tag that said BLKBRD. Jeff bought it from a small moped shop in Norfolk, VA called Import Cycle Center. I felt sorry for Jeff and gave him my 2016 Suzuki Burgman 200 for free and then one day I come home and the Silverwing is parked in front of my garage! Jeff had to find the title to the Swing (he eventually found it) and rode the Burgman I gave him for almost a YEAR while it was still in my name and on my insurance, he had outstanding back taxes and they froze his DMV privileges. I tried to give the Silverwing back several times but Jeff didn't have no place to park it, so I tricked Arnie into taking it on as a project. Now your next! Let me know if you have any questions and post up what you did to it!

thanks for all that back story on the swing. makes the acquisition all the more interesting for me. adds to the story when people ask " what the heck is that"
looking forward to getting it road worthy again. there will be a build thread on it. goal we be massive weight savings. wet weight is 540. :I want to see 440 or lower. with my usual sliders and smaller tires. when I started researching the bigger engine scooters the swing was the engine :I liked the best. tmax too expensive. burgman 650 too heavy (610) . found the swing engine being used in all sorts of cool projects. reverse three wheelers, small cars, tractors, even a big paraglider. but no naked projects. looking forward to this. thanks to those who helped out here. |
