Just picked up my second SIP speedometer. The first one was on another bike and OK but kept turning off and resetting during low idle because of no battery AC system.
SLUK and SIP has a solution which is an AC to DC converter.
https://scooterlab.uk/sip-speedo-solution-scootronics-intelli-converter-workshop/
https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/voltage-regulator-koso_KOBL000010
Has anyone used one of these items with their SIP Speedometer?

SLUK is out of stock but Scootronics is making more and should have some soon...based on what he said on FBook. SIP has one available but both would take a couple of weeks to get here using economical methods of shipping.
I was wondering if something like this would work:
https://www.12vmonster.com/products/outdoor-waterproof-12v-ac-to-dc-converter-12-volt-led-supply-1a-rectifier?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiAouD_BRBIEiwALhJH6MGsnfOg81lj4XaK7hXboydidRbJ5to5IP6eJ383qux9EvFPF8PKBBoC5CMQAvDBwE

I think I can find one on Amazon and have it here tmrw or the next day.
I'll prob just go with the one SIP has which is designed for their speedo plus the item is cheap, too.

Bonus question: The bike has a flytech iginition and there is an extra white wire in the headset. Can anyone confirm that white wire can be hooked up to the speedometer box's rev wire to get a clean rev reading with no need to make adjustments for that type of stator?

I'm just going to get the KOSO from SIP. Whodat did the ac to dc conversion for a headlight only component and used something similar but for higher voltage. He provided me with the info for the converter box he used and another alternative. Thanks for the info! The KOSO would not handle a DC headlight but its only a 1 3/4 inches by 1 inch box and prob fit inside my headlight with the speedo box. If so I won't have to run wires to the left glove box......I hope.

Which of the yellow wires at the regulator did you tap the red and brown wires from the speedo box into? I can't seem to find any info saying if it needs to be one or the other.

I didn't get the KOSO regulator/rectifier. Project is on hold until motor is back in.

I don't quite understand your question but hell I can assume. I'm guessing you're using this for a SIP speedo. I would not wire to regulator but to a hot wire source in the headset.
The black is ground.
The red is AC power in so you can use any hot wire. If you have an extra blue wire for turn signals use that.
The brown is DC power out and goes to your power wire for the unit.
The other black is a "I don't really know" wire. I was going to experiment with that one either by taping up or adding to the SIP speedo's ground wire.

You may luck out and don't need it if the stator can power the unit while at idle and not cut out and reset itself. It works for some but the other one I had in the past would not stay on at idle.

Why send an additional wire all the way through the chassis when you can biggy-back on the running light at the headlight? seems a lot easier.

Sorry guys I mean the power box for the speedo. The power box is under the seat right next to the regulator. There's no room in the headset for it! In the SIP install video they just show splicing into one of the yellow wires at the regulator but can't tell which of the two it is.

since it is underneath the fuel tank by the voltage regulator/rectifier, then how about you tap into the blue wire (regulated AC); referencing the VAPE wiring diagram. you might even want to use the Blue wire to the flasher you will not be using.

Ah the help I needed! See I'm looking at the diagram and I think I'll attach it to the other single blue wire that comes right from the stator, BUT thankful for the advice as now that I look again I want the regulated power from the regulator not the stator power. So using the blinker wire that's unused makes perfect sense! Thanks again for the lessons Jon.

Side note for the electric impaired folks out there seems like it'd be easy to label the regulator with an in/out marking? Or am I just really bad with comprehending diagrams? Leaning more towards me tbh
