On motorcycles, especially race bikes, I've experienced significantly better braking techniques using adjustable brake levers. They allow the rider to adjust the lever to the best position (distance) from the grip which allows hands and fingers of different sizes/lengths to more easily articulate brake levers. They also allow adjustability based on thickness of gloves worn.

Looking for a short, perhaps a dogleg shape adjustable brake lever set. Not interested in Chinese junk but the only other levers I can find are $150+ Rizoma etc. not trying to be cheap but isn't ther an offering cheap Chinese stuff and the high end levers?

I'm very happy with my cheap chinese levers.

what do you have against these? I understand for some products cheap chinese are not ideal but levers are pretty damn simple

i've installed both on client bikes. the china stuff off ebay was hot garbage and took a bunch of fiddle-fuckery but ultimately worked fine.

the riz or anything german/euro or taiwan fit perfect and took no fooling about.

you pays your money you takes your chances.

Any links for these aftermarket brake levers? My wife would like to get levers that are closer to the grips if possible as long reach for her.

I have cheap adjustable levers on two bikes. they were not plug and play. both needed significant tweeks to do the job. but happy with both sets. I dont have long fingers. so they do serve very valuable modification. they look loads cooler too.

If you consider that a good adjustable brake lever has prices from 80 EUR to 140 EUR against the 15 EUR 30 EUR of a chinese-made one, the price difference seems excessive to me.
I would like the guarantee that when i pull hard the lever during emergency braking it will not break and that my last thought before crashing into an obstacle is:
"...oops, i should have saved on something else ...".

no way the levers seen here are less safe . the quality of the alloy and the anodizing is top notch. these were like 23 shipped. they look like 150 in quality. where they were poor quality was the machining for the bearing was not done smooth. it took some light sanding before the bearing fit nice and smooth.

the other set for the mp3 werent perfect either. there wasnt enough piston to lever clearance so it drove like brakes were sticking. had to remove some pad material with a grinder to get the fitted.

if you paid 150 and still had to do these type of things it would suck. but for the huge savings at the cost of a good cheesburger? no problemo

I used a set I paid $16 off Ebay for on my GT200 for a little over two years and 8,000 miles. I had to add 1/16" to the lobes that hit the brake light switch. I cut two little squares of sign aluminum and used JB Weld to attach them. Darn near the best $16.00 I've ever spent on a scooter accessory.

Thanks all for the input. I'm not willing to hope for the best with the cheap Chinese stuff with brake levers nor am I a fan of machining brand new parts to make fit. I'll check with ScooterWest. Anyone else have adjustable dogleg brake levers NOT from China?

Not being prepared to take any risks with brakes, I got a set of the MG Bike Tec shortie levers (in black) from ScooterWest for my GTS 300.

They are just what I wanted and have made my riding more comfortable as I have never liked the long reach layout of stock levers on either my ET4 150 or now the GTS 300

From what i have read on the internet, ScooterWest is a very serious and responsible dealer; i suppose (i am sure) that it is because the products are of high quality.

The last adjustable levers bought were from scooterwest but they did not adjust to move closer to the grip. I need ones that shorten the reach not make it longer.

Installed a couple from aliexpress. Replaced with original after 6 months. Were dangerously shaking and switching on the brake light all time. My mechanic told me not to play with such safety equipment. Love the originals!

Maybe someday bad shit will turn out to be good (to use Greasy's magnificent expression ) but currently, in the absence of a trustworthy brand won with obviously satisfied customers, it's too much of a risk to trade safety for little money.
For one thing there are different types of aluminum (or other materials) and some are treated to resist wear and the derived objects are subjected to bending, traction and stress tests in general; this raises the price but protects us.

do any of these fit the Bv?

Also, Taiwan parts != China parts, especially when it comes to bicycle and scooter parts.

Not exactly, Kymko is an example; he produced models for Honda and today he produces scooters for Kawasaki and BMW. The addition of the quality control of the final assemblers ensures the product must be good from the source.
Taiwan is smaller than China, if it wants to sell it must also be reliable .... at least to some extent. So if its exports do not want to suffer declines, they cannot work on quantity, not only ... they must also be reliable. In recent years I have had to change my mind about Made in Taiwan products, the Momo rims of my car are Made in Taiwan and I have seen original BMW rims with that inscription. Will this have any meaning?

i can't say in that i've not installed them on a BV. i have installed a pair of rizo's on a BV, the client bought them (and other parts) from SIP and everything went together without any drama.

taiwan generally has decent stuff if it's from a known supplier. night and day from china crap.

I ended up buying a pair of PM Tuning Pro Street dog leg adjustable brake levers from my local Vespa dealer. They discounted them to $125 for the pair. Had em shipped across town for $10 instead of spending over an hour in the car.

I've got short MG Biketec levers on my GT200, and they are very well made. The only issue is the spring can come out if you aren't careful when installing them. I had some of the PM tuning ones, and they only adjust out, which is not what people seem to want. I suspect they are the same ones you find on Aliexpress.
Piaggio has shorter levers on the Asian market bikes, and I've been thinking about adding them to the catalog. They seem to have a better angle for smaller hands. If someone wants to play test subject and stick a set on an LX or GTS, let me know and I'll send you a pair. I'm curious as to whether or not the disk brake lever will work on both sides, but not curious enough to take my bike apart to find out.

The angle on the attachment plate is decisive to dose the application force on the pump cylinder, I noticed this by pulling some levers mounted as standard on different scooters and motorcycles.

I bought the 'long silver' levers from this aliexpress listing https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32961692737.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.6fa25accQvxSKY&algo_pvid=7b0fa0d4-9086-43d0-a036-ebccb66aa983&algo_expid=7b0fa0d4-9086-43d0-a036-ebccb66aa983-3&btsid=d3fc84d0-e7c8-4eec-a165-d4d5663511fd&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_3,searchweb201603_52 and they are perfect. I had them installed on my 2009 gts300 and then transfered them to my 2019 supertech. had them for aroun d 18months so far

I have a proposal but it is the moderators who decide, to find easily with the "Search" button you make a single topic with the title "brake levers after market" where you can post the brand of the lever and the price and after a year of use you put the impressions based on: comfort, quality, wear of the parts in contact (pin and point of support on the pump) with a rating ranging from zero to ten.
In this way the discussion on the same topic is not repeated by creating multiple pages and the opinions can be easily updated.

I am fairly certain those are the same levers everyone else is selling that look like that.

I sent off my last set of short levers for trial, in a GTS, so hopefully I will know within a week or so if they work. I do have some black levers for one of the Aprilia models that are shorter but I didn't think to compare them to the Vespa ones. I still have a short brake lever for a cable brake, like on an LX.

I received the brake levers and installed on wife's 2012 GTS300. Fit was no problem and measuring they seem to be about 1/2 inch closer (measured at end of lever to grip).

Wife sat on the scoot and said they do feel closer but really needs to road test to have a definitive opinion. Unfortunately here in VT that is still at least 6 weeks away.

Just wanted to add that shorter levers are also nice in cramped spaces if you need to move around the scooter a lot!

I believe the MGs are one of the few (if not the only) adjustables that do allow closer-to-the-grip adjustment. This is why - excuse the crappy pun - I promptly put the brakes on purchasing some above-crap-level levers that only adjusted farther from the grip, which is exactly what I didn't want. Haven't gotten the MGs yet, but will slot them in my budget for later in the year, behind a new set of shocks.

I'll be quite curious about this as well; had I been quicker on the uptake, I would've volunteered to "take one for the team" trying out those shorter levers.
