Hello friends,

Thank you once again for welcoming me to your group. I searched the site and found a service manual for an LX150 at wotmeworry.org. I am confused because they state that it is for an LX1504T and there is no year specified. Would the manual for the LX1504T work for a 2006 LX150?

Next problem is that a friend took the scooter out for a ride and wrecked. That was pretty upsetting considering I only had the scooter for three days and was in generally good condition. Nevertheless, it's more important that she is ok and nothing terrible bad happened. I am attaching pictures for the damage as well as the leak that developed after the accident. Although I am a motorcycle tech, I have not experience with Vespa and not sure where to begin, especially with body work!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

it looks like the engine oil pressure is making the leak. It either looks like it's coming from your filter's oil ring (seal), or there's a tiny hole on the filter which was caused by erosion by water in which it penetrated the filter's tin.
Is it leaking continuously or leaked only once while crash?

When the scooter is laid down on its left side with the engine running, lots of oil can escape through the crankcase breather in the valve cover and into the airbox, soaking the filter.

Remove airbox cover, and clean the filter. Check oil level.


It looks like it's only slightly dented, just check the frame and steering tube is all straight.

Thank you for your replies. I will look at that filter follow your recommendation. Wondering if a body shop can do work on Vespas or if it needs to go to a Vespa person. Digging deeper. Thank you!!

I would remove the plastic on the backside of the leg shield. That bend at the top doesn't look too bad. I would bet it can be straightened. As Jim said, make sure the steering tube is not bent. If you can ride it, and it doesn't pull to one side or the other, you are likely fine. Replacing the silver trim is super easy once you have the back of the leg shield removed. The rest just looks like a little paint and body work. None of it looks too serious to me.

With the Vespa you need a good coachbuilder (do you spell it like this?) Because of the completely sheet metal frame.

Assuming and hoping your buddy is OK, the next questions is how are they going to fund your repairs? A well stocked beer fridge is a good place to start.

So, the bike is down to the frame. There is a lot of rust. Going to get to work on that. Also a lot of parts that just look like crap from exposure to the elements on south beach. Will be cleaning what I can and replacing parts where I can't. Fist things first... shocks have got to go! Muffler is fully rusted as well. Undercarriage needs work in various places from rust. May do paint later. Not trying to keep it completely original. I am looking at. 79 P200 that will be kept original. Let's se how that goes.

Stepping in here...a coach builder is what we in 'Urop' call an auto body shop worker. They perform miracles with your bent bodywork! Hoping it's not too bad. Let us know how you get on. Hoping your female friend is mending ok.
