So basically its the ADV 150 with a Honda bbk kit installed. Will they use the rear disc brake with the 160cc motor?

ScooterPartsco. has the Malossi BBK for both the PCX and SH in 170cc.

I like all things Honda. (cars, lawnmowers, motorcycles, scoorters)

If I needed a scooter in that size, I would buy it in an instant.

Wife and I liked the PCX overall. Was a bit bland to look at but was comfy for 2 adults to bump around town on. But then we saw the Liberty and that's what we purchased. We also like the ADV 150 but not enough to replace the Liberty with one. Flat floor is mandatory for us. But Honda is on the right track. Always liked their products as well.

You guys would know? Don't some states mandate over 150cc for expressways?

Ergo 160 or 155+

If you want a "rebore then PCX can be hogged out to 170 or 175cc.

In Italy it takes from 150 + 1 cc up to go on the motorway and rings (minimum 4 lanes) around the big cities.
For years there have been court cases with owners of old Vespas because the actual cylinder capacity was 145 cc even though they were sold with the inscription 150.
The need of the manufacturers to raise the displacement to a minimum of 155 cc is partly due to the changed legislative conditions but also to the increase in anti-pollution restrictions which also force an increase in power; the increase generally does not exceed 1 or 2 hp but ...
Always keep it in front of your eyes, the declared power is always at the crankshaft.
The actual power to the rear wheel (the one you put on the ground) is about one third less; hypothesis, you can have 20 hp at the crankshaft but 15 hp unloaded on the ground.
The manufacturer will sacrifice the additional power received from the increase in displacement (paradoxically) to comply with the anti-pollution regulations and you will always have the same power at the wheel.

No. The PCX 150 was still using basically the same 20 year old engine as the original Dylan, Pantheon, SH 150, that's been around forever. It's the basis of most Kymco and Sym small watercooled scooters. It is a two valve engine, and while not a complete dog rocket, is fairly lackluster in the performance department. As you know, there really is only one company Honda competes with when it comes to motorsports. The new engine is a four valve model, and should hold it's own with the engine in the Xenter, the S-Max and that thing Atilla rides.

PS: Attila not Atilla.

With variable actuation of the 4 valves (VVT system).

I sat on an Smax.
IMHO it doesn't matter how good the bikes motor is if you're uncomfortable riding. How do you ride a bike when the handlebars hit your knees? Here I was ready to buy an Smax and then I sat on one. It felt like a toy compared to my SH.
It's starting to look like the bike that will reside in my van during my retirement will be the ADV 150, even though it has 3 things I don't like. 1)smart key. 2)start-stop tech. 3)rear drum brake.
I haven't sat on an ADV 150 yet, but the reviews say that the longer suspension makes it more comfortable. Maybe I'll sit on one this weekend.

You should try the Tricity ... it has three wheels and three disc brakes with ABS plus a drum brake for the stationary brake.

I rode one 25 miles at night on the Interstate. The entire time I was wondering how to make it enjoyable. Nothing came to mind.

Smax. I was impressed with the performance for such a small engine, but it really is designed for riders in the country where it is made. The SH is made in italy, and I think the Xenter is too, which might be why they tend to fit North Americans better than the Smax and PCX.

Engine shuts off when stopped in traffic and automagically starts again when you twist the throttle.

I hate rear drums because the cable tension is a pita when stopped.

Ok yeah, I just dove into reading about stop start tech and blegh. I don't like that either.
Is the start stop tech definitely on the USA models of the Honda ADV 150 ? Or is that tech only on the ADV 150 scooters in other countries?

I don't see that tech listed as a feature on the USA Honda ADV 150 website specs.
Can anyone in the USA confirm ?

S & S is also in Italy on some scooters and many cars, recently also on some Piaggio scooters. But in my opinion it is a technology of little use to reduce consumption and pollution.
It definitely increases battery wear.
Ciao.

It's like a golf cart. In crowded inner cities, where most people ride these things, it does make a certain amount of sense.
The odds are that if Honda is making one version for the entire known world, it will have stop start, but if they are making one with and one without, we will get the one without.
The first time I rented a car with it, it was a bit unnerving.
But like everything else, you get used to it.

The S & S button in my car is missing, there is a cap in its place ... I didn't want it. It was a paid accessory (250 EUR).
Why was there? Because the S&S can be switched on / off in many cases but many people deactivate it because it is ... unnerving.
On a scooter it kills the battery faster ...
