He introduced me to Vespas the second time*, but he was so enchanted with them that this time the hook was set well. I love the crazy man who now seems to love his pigs and chickens more than his poor currently broken Vespas. I know he hasn't been around much lately, but we had plans to cure his least sick scooter soon and be ready for summer ride outs for a beer from a tap at some new spot he'd found. Kye's a great kid, well a man now in his later mid twenties, but I've known him, hmmmm, twenty one years.
And screwed with scooters along side Hal for half of that time... shiiiish! He's probably the reason half of you guys now running Honda corks got the idea Honda CR80 clutch disk page, what have you got? and oh yeah, he really knows how to jerk steel Tubes stuck in headset, I mean really, REALLY stuck So this thread kinda caught my eye you might say. I even got a call from Dave at Mercato sniffing around after him. I think this will all mean the world to Hal. I saw Kye a few days ago and things are looking up. I look forward to seeing Hal soon so I can give him usual hug and a bad time as usual for causing such a damn fuss. *first intro did not go well |

I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times at some of Voodoo's garage sessions and around town. All around nice guy. I'd be happy to pitch in.

Update
Just visited Kye and things are progressing. They could have released him on the 6th from the PT facility where he is now, but his team said he is making such good progress that they suggest another week where he can get best therapy there. He is now talking in syllables and today they removed his feeding tube because he can finally eat and swallow again. He liked that a LOT and does want to come home, but probably will agree to stay for best therapy.
He knows what's going on, and responds to questions from Kye and his Dad on Zoom meetings very appropriately. I am working with Kye to see what he might want to sell off from his herd. He has probably available an old Triumph motorcycle, a P125 I will go over & see what's what, a GL150, a smallie w/ a 125 motor I think, and possibly an SS180. None of these really run right now, but all there & would be great projects So if there's any local interest, please hit me up. Birdsnest wrote: ... Homecoming!
Hal came home today so I paid him a visit and was pleasantly surprised at how well he's doing. He had just finished a bath and then suddenly he was all dressed neatly and walking into the room with the help of his new cane. He understands well but still has some difficulty finding the words he knows but can't find to express himself.
But he had no problem letting me know if he was in favor of something or not. I brought a some strudel and a bottle of Brown Sugar Bourbon that he was definitely interested in sampling, but just a tiny bit for critical medication reasons I was forced to respect. He managed to ask me my travel plans but I had to confess that I just don't know yet. He also was so thankful for the support he got from you guys, I know he was touched deep. And yes, he has missed his chickens and especially those two pigs. Here he is when I asked him where his dreadlocks went...
And with son Kye who has used this great opportunity to learn more farmcraft.

That is great! He's doing very well given the circumstances. It's hopeful to hear someone make excellent progress like this. Hopefully he'll be back on his scooters in the future with enough time to recover and can join everyone in the area for a slow ride to take everything in under a different outlook.
Wishing him and everyone else best health! |
