I'm hoping to join the club in the next year or two. I have a second beat up VB1 that begging me for attention. It has a missing seat, rotted out fuel tank, lock up engine, and a broken front brake lever perch on the headset. Perhaps a Sei Giorni sei mesi project?

There's no such thing as a bad 60/8 project, because if you're rolling on 8"s, you're already cooler than most.

ummm...yeah, it's not really rolling yet. I did just get an Oregon title for it (by way of Vermont), so there's no other option now than to proceed though!

Does it count if I've only been able to hit a true 60 with a tailwind?

I think to get an official land speed record it is the average of two runs in opposite direction on the same course within an hour and the only service you can do between runs is add fuel.

The best I've done with no wind on a flat is 58. I've done well over 60 with a tailwind.

I think I need to tweak the timing and mixture a little.

I'm not an official judge, but so far as I'm concerned, if it's two stroke, shifty, and 8"s, then it counts.

If you want to add house rules, that's on you. We won't put an asterisk next to your name.

OK, then I'm claiming it.

Check, check and check. Sadly the engine is currently waiting for a new conrod and I'm not sure if I can manage to get things buttoned up before snowfall.
Grumpnut wrote:

If you manage to achieve 100kmh with your trailer by itself (note, freefall does not count) , I will personally design and make you a sticker of your own That 80kmh also is just a test pull on a short stretch of dirt road, and it is just the only clip I had on hand. 100kmh is rather easily done on tad longer paved road.

Just wondering... is there any extra kudos or another category for doing 60 on 8's for hours on end ?
How bout with a broken exhaust?
How bout if there is fuel pissing out the overflow hoses from the carb, right onto the exhaust?

Ginchi will verify that poor Speedy managed WOT for 2 1/2 days, with the bonus of keeping temp under 300f (generally 260-270f)!

My ears will never be the same, but hey, when you need to be at the start of The Mille (1000km in 2-days) & your exhaust falls apart when you it's the weekend & there is still 1000-odd km to go, you just need to suck it up & RIDE BABY RIDE.
The SMOKE coming from under it was ... well... "of concern"

Note: for clarity some of it was a mere 94km/h (58.41mph) to 96km/h (59.64mph), but it was FULLY LOADED!
A 3 day old Most-lousy exhaust

I'm amazed that we didn't get pulled up by cops, but luckily (for us, not the people they were attending to or had stopped) every single cop along the way was already pre-occupied.

Coming into the destination on the last night I had to turn the LED lights off, as with wind behind us the smoke (from dripping fuel burning on exhaust) was highlighted & noticeable across intersections every time we stopped at lights... while bang-bang-pop thundered into the night.
Luckily it was Halloween Eve!

Having ridden with a holed exhaust more than once, I'm most amazed you were able to tolerate the noise.

And I'm 100% Team Field Repair. I've never gone quite as deep into a motor as y'all seem to routinely do on the Mille, but I had the chaincase open at Lammy Jammy this year and have done everything but split the cases on Vespas at rallies or on the side of the road at one time or another.

Way to keep the Dark Lords legend rolling!

Someday I will remember to use GPS ... but how do you have the thingee that shows top speed & average speed (hopefully not overall average, as getting to 60 lowers the overall average.
Is there something that does a flying quarter or flying mile?
