I masked with tape to seal my seams, too. It must have worked pretty well since no one noticed it in the pictures after I did it. I did it after the DTM epoxy.

Started working on the engine. Unmasked and cleaned up everything. Bushings, bearings, crank, etc. are in. I would have finished today but I'm missing the washer that sits under the kickstart spring on the primary. Old motor didn't have one and I don't have one. It's so frustrating, that a small part like this one, keeps me back. On the last photo I just tried the small half to see how it looks...

Just catching up.
Been on pins and needles waiting to see what color you were painting the engine.
Then lo and behold - it turns out that the chases is going orange!
Love it.
Work sure looks good.

It's a "simple" Pantone code (151C). We chose it cause it's one of the colors of his company's logo. It has lots of yellow in the mix that's why it's changing shades depending the light or angle...

Looks like stoffi clutch springs with bgm plates. The stoffi clutch is worth the extra dough. You can take out some of the springs to make pulling the clutch lever softer. Poidog put me up on it and I'm glad he did. https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic172794

word. I've got the stoffi ready to go into the war department's bike. now I'm just contemplating clutch plates for that and for the PK

apples and oranges there, but I need to do *something* about the PK cutch, it is just an arm killer.

That's funny. I was trying to get my arm killer smallframe clutch to be easy like the pk. Stoffi clutch springs just about did it. I prob need to shorten the cable to make it almost perfect.

PK is decidedly not stock. hence the arm killer.

might start or revive a smallie clutch thread so I don't step all over this one.

Do it! I could use a smallie clutch upgrade, its next on the list. Currently rocking a uprate spring which is alrighty, but not so mighty tighty. Stoffi spring set looks nice with the ability to swap springs

For some reason, the PK cases I got, had the wrong clutch cover (XL2, single cable shifter). So I had to paint a new one, that works with the clutch we have. We decided to make it red, again for contrast, although it's not something you can easily see. The PK stator uses a round multiplug, so I butchered an old loom I had, to use the female plug on the new loom going in. Original '90s rubber on loom plug, just cleaned it up. Very interesting. I'm digging the contrast red touches. Its amazig how the old rubber can last decades, and new rubber starts cracking in a year or two...

You do lovely work. Love the black on orange, and the red will pop. And even better, looks like it'll be super fun to ride.
