Practically every morning I scoot up the old Pacific Highway north of Sydney to cupcake-in-the-sky, a coffee and cupcake shop in the bush up a long winding road. PITS is a motorcyclist hangout, and I meet up with a bunch of mates there and enjoy a large flat white.

While wasting time on my desktop a few days ago I looked PITS up on Google Earth, and went down to street view, and there I was with my mates.

I'm the guy on the right with the mass of white hair.

Edit :How can I make this stupid computer stop changing p i e to cupcake? P i e isn't a swearword or anythjing in the US, is it?

I presume Americans don't eat P i e s, only hamburgers. A p i e is a pastry shell with hot meat inside. I particularly love the Beef Burgundy p i e sold at PITS, but I don't eat them often as I am trying to lose weight.

Thanks, Sledge, for the Wiki link. I was not aware that a flat white was an Australian invention (don't believe those bloody New Zealanders, always claiming they did it first).

Must cut you diggers up that the coffee you purportedly invented (because some 2nd rate barista ran out of steam) got perfected over the ditch. I mean, you guys must be foaming.

Just one of the quirks built into MV. Not sure what go that one going.... the other classic of course is All the Gear All the Time abbreviated = Toreador Pants

Go figure.

Think how I must feel with my translations ...
Anyway ... in Italy we have the "calzone" (pantaloon) stuffed with mozzarella and cooked ham; it is a round container made of dough like pizza and folded in half.

Cool. Suggestion to ya, if you want to keep a copy of that picture, take a screen shot of the page. Google maps will update that page in a few months and that pic will be refreshed with a newer version. Not sure what their schedule is for your area, but in NYC then tend to update every 6-9 months.

Did that immediately so I could show it around. The copy I posted was from my desktop's document folder.

They don't come around all that often here. Pictures of my house are normally a couple of years out of date.

Then tell it to this stupid forum. I hate computer systems that think they know better than me what I want to write. Suggestions are ok.

Will admit that the first time I read your OP was thinking "daily trip to a cupcake shop? Really? Those Aussies...."

What a great thread! I only visited the Sydney area once but this is the kind of thing ,having a neat place to motor to, that makes life worth living. My wife and I have Australia on our "Retire To" list and knowing things like the OP's hangout are worth knowing when determining quality of life details. Cheers and Aloha.

It feels like being in Italy near my house ... Same vegetation, pines and eucalyptus ... even the relaxed atmosphere ... well, the road barrier with a curve sign is not reassuring.

Speed limit on that road is 80 kph, but a lot of motorcyclists do a fair bit more. The place is packed on weekends, and very noisy with motorcyclists arriving and departing.

PITS is at the top of a long drive down to the Hawkesbury river, with twisties all the way. Bikers love the ride. The ride there from my hguse is a bit more level, but still a lovely winding ride.
