My sister-in-law is due right about then, so it'll probably end up just being me that comes as my parents will likely be busy wrangling my niece and nephew...

I, on the other hand, don't see the point of just sitting around waiting for what MIGHT be the due date, especially since I can't go to the hospital anyway because of both COVID protocols and the fact they don't want any of the family there "putting pressure" on her...

ok, I just have to ask, seein's how some Harley riders trailer their bikes to Sturgis. Do you ride the back roads to get there, or tow if you're further away? Not making a judgment here! There are benefits to being older, retired and having the time. I remember being out in California and realizing it was 3 1/2 days of riding just to get back home. That is girl riding at around 70 mph.

yes some folks do trailer their scoots in. some others trailer part of the way and ride in. . fyi thursday is a what we use as a travel in day, rides are fri and sat then travel out on sun.

The Lovely Wife and I are booked in the Woodland Cottage E (for excellence!).

It has a firepit, grill, picnic table, etc. But you have to be quiet. You're in the woods.

FYI, a couple of things. They have a military discount for the lodge rooms, but not the cabins/cottages. Also, the cabin/cottages do have linen service.

Anyone else going to the Spring 2021 Gathering?

Pre-ride was supposed to be this week but temps in mid 20s and snow predicted so not happening. OAD and KevinK have pulled out so don't have to coordinate reschedule of ride.

I wanted to go on the pre-ride but trying to finish my sister-in-law house up so she can list it for sale and buy a piece of property on the lake, it all has to happen this month and hope to get it finalized before the gathering. so its 7 days a week for me right now for the next 2-3 weeks.

PS I will be more than ready for a break and some down time, even if its just sitting around the room and taking some short walks and not riding. There will be adult beverages for sure.

Just for the record, I have a doctor's excuse. No riding for me for several months.

Y'all have fun as I won't be able to make it.

I will be coming through Indy, but I'm planning to trailer so I can bring all my camping gear. I haven't really made my plans yet to decide if I'm going to go part way on Wednesday and finish up Thursday (most likely decision) or make the whole drive on Thursday...

Hoping to head up there Tuesday to check out possible routes. Using https://www.appalachianbackroads.com to pick routes to ride. Maps list points of interest if there are any request for stops. Maps were great for our Hungry Mother planning. From my work so far, finding places for a meal stop will be a major factor in picking route.

Working on a route toward Gate City as second ride. It would mostly be the Roadrunner rout on the Appalachian Backroads maps. Tazewell (north end of Back of the Dragón) is within reach if we want to go that way.

Possible lunch stop at Riverfront Seafood in Kingsport, TN. Slim pickings for restaurants on rest of route. Sugar hill Brewing Co has some food but too close to Breaks for lunch stop.

Hopefully there is ice cream somewhere.

You need to help me find ice cream on them. Holcomb's Custard Stand in Isom, KY may be an option. Some Dairy Queen's around.

Thanks for the map and recon work. Both routes look great and they are new areas for us to ride and explore.

Google Maps makes adjustments when saved so maps not quite correct. I will be putting together gpx files with Basecamp and will share after I do check rides.

Called to confirm my room and I'm in Catawba Rm 134. We, Charmaue and I, will be in on the 19th mid to late afternoon. We are looking forward to an enjoyable time and seeing you all again.

Road in some heavy rain yesterday getting here. Light rain much of today.

Doug did great setting up which lodge to be in. We got the only one with a view. Rooms 123 to 134 on second floor with best view. Parking is at 2nd floor
