You’ll have a bed to sleep in if you need one. Come on up.

If your tires are worn in the middle, no need to change them. Won’t use that part much up here. 😉

Thank you Fuzzy for the offer and OAD for the information.

I will try.

If it was North Georgia, that would make it easier.

Google has it at over 600 miles and 9 hours on the highways.

Might need to haul Rocket up in the truck bed.

Made it home. 1100 miles and rain gear on for 2 of 4 days. Found some major and minor issues with the maps used as a guide. Made adjustments and will update the gpx files. Should be able to post them in a day or two.

Park restaurant not open Thursday and limited pickings within easy reach of park. I recommend bringing Thursday dinner with you or eat before you get there. It will be open Friday through Sunday. Had breakfast there before I left this morning. They were not fast so if wanting to eat breakfast then be there when they open at 8:00 in morning to be on time for rides starting at 9:00

Top off with gas before getting to park. First gas stop on rides around 50 miles from park.

Rooms have a fridge and coffee pot but no microwave. Nearest barbecue a few minutes walk from lodge.

Store at main lodge has some snack food and drinks. Candy bars, chips, crackers and such, nothing healthy. Nearest alternative nearly 10 miles of twisties away.

Over the weekend, my wife decided that we would go to Chicago to visit our son and daughter-in-law for her birthday in early June.

I can’t do both, so hopefully I will see you guys in the fall or next spring.

Thursday Dinner
Hey Guys,

Seeing as how there is limited local options for Thursday evening dining, The Lovely Wife (tm), Nor, and I, volunteer to provide a likely over- adequate amount of pulled pork as a main course. If there is interest, let's coordinate side dishes (Coleslaw, Macsalad), Buns, Chips, etc.

To be served at our woodland cottage at the park. BYOB... And, of course, everyone is welcome.

We look forward to seeing y'all soon!

Kilo and Nor

P.S. - Fuzzy, could you please post a Google Map version of the routes. It doesn't need to be exact. Thanks!

Barbecue sounds great to me. Can hit a grocery store on way in for sides.

One watch out on BYOB. Your cabin is 1.5 miles from lodge so unless walking back or staying the night, no one needs to get carried away at diner.

I’ll see what I can do for Google. I think I have a way to get there from base camp.

It won't be BBQ, but it will be pulled pork. I imagine at least one person will be able to shuttle if needed. Alcohol is prohibited at the park, so....

We appreciate you helping with the google map version. If the above are good enough, that'll work.

Thanks for the Google routes. I will use them on my android phone GPS backup.

Now is anyone have/bring a Cardo Packtalk helmet headset. I and RIck both have it, but it would be nice if there were one or two more in the group to expand the mesh network intercom.

Guess you just can’t trust Wikipedia.
🤔

“Pulled pork is an American barbecue dish, more specifically a dish of the Southern U.S., based on shredded barbecued pork shoulder. It is typically slow-smoked over wood (usually outdoors); indoor variations use a slow cooker. The meat is then shredded manually and mixed with a sauce. It may be served on bread or eaten on its own.”

I’ll bring macaroni salad. Hopefully that is ok because Wikipedia says it goes with barbecue.

“Macaroni salad is a type of pasta salad, served cold made with cooked elbow macaroni and usually prepared with mayonnaise. Much like potato salad or coleslaw in its use, it is often served as a side dish to barbecue”

Look, man, i just don't want to get my ass kicked for calling something not smoked, bbq. And you know how people are around these parts.

Thanks for bringing the mac salad. Hopefully some others will step up.

And thanks for the google map versions.

We are looking forward to it!

Jalapeno poppers? Those ones she made way back for the Gathering at Tellico were delicious...

As for me, I'm going to check the grocery store tomorrow when they're open for some fresh fruit.

those are good, but now we have to crank up a grill and they really won't compliment the pulled pork. I have another speciality in mind though and a fan favorite.

hey why is your profile have you still in GA?
It diverts the riff raff to another state. However; since the state of GA has found me sending a letter for underpayment of 2016 taxes, I guess I might as well update it.

Kevin, With the names it has and delicious as it looks in those mason jars, in Tennessee I would assume it was a variety of bbq sauce. What is is called in the Carolinas?
Well, we call them bbq sauces. Your sure ask some really odd questions for a man of reasonably high intelligence.

After someone got after me for assuming pulled pork was bbq I figured I was lacking something in my education.

So apparently putting bbq sauce on pulled pork making it taste close to bbq does not allow calling it bbq. Am i on the right track?
