After 17 years I lost my only remaining ignition key. Had two new keys cut from the master. Am trying to program the new keys, following the video instructions. Master key works fine, engine starts right up. New keys get the engine firing but not turning over. Is this a programming issue? It seems so easy but... not working for me.

Does the orientation of the key matter? Up/down?

I recently had some electrical work done, does something need to be reset internally? An antenna or...?

With each key there is a single blink from the red LED light, then nothing. No other message.

I did store these three keys together in a single plastic bag for a while, did that mess something up?

Any advice?

Try doing the cycle with the red key once. Then do it with the red key again. Then do it with one blue key. then do it with the red key.
Does that blue key work?

If not, try red key cycle once. One blue key cycle once. red key cycle once. Does that blue key work now?

OH yea. Now ONE Of the two keys is working so not the other one. So... by separating them I was able to isolate which one is not good. Great idea. What to do with a faulty spare? Anyway to re-connect it to the scooter? Or should I just toss it?

If you've got one working, good. If the other one won't be accepted, then leave it alone <shrug>.

The programming system always deletes all other remembered keys once the programming starts, so you can't do one key at a time. You can do just one key, or you can do both keys, but not one, then start again and do the other, as the first one will be forgotten. This is a security measure, as you do not want a lost key to work again.

Neither of them are defective. You know the CDI will accept key codes and how to program it so blue keys work. Now you can do the same thing using both blue keys, and they both should take a program.
OTOH, I think it was SDG who said that over it's life the CDI will only accept a finite amount of blue keys.
