'The Six' is Toronto right?
I was hit by a car on my bicycle a few years ago. Ambulance ride. Broken collar bone. Road rash.
There were two pieces of advice I was given that paned out to be true.
1. Slow down. You're injured. Immediately after getting released from the hospital I wanted to 'go get my bike and take it to a bike shop.' What I needed to be doing was making sure I was OK.
2. Do not rush into any agreement, insurance or otherwise until you know the full extent of your healing plan and property damage. In California, I was contacted by the at fault insurance company, almost immediately. Told me they'd get me a shiny new bike and they'd send someone to wherever I was and have me sign and settle the paperwork. Anyone who's rushing your process is most likely looking at it only to minimize their financial liability.
They're at fault. They can wait.
Keep us posted.
Thank you,
Yes I live downtown in the King St west neighborhood. The accident happened in front of Union Station at Bay and Front on the south side. I was headed to St Lawrence market.
I will heed all the advice I got here, all good.
Lou at Vespa Toronto is awesome. He just checked up on me and said he is 100% there for me if I need anything. It's great to have such an amazing Piaggio dealer here and someone I consider a friend . Haven't seen him nearly enough since covid.
My guess is a new HPE is in my future. Depend on whether there is body damage and the fork . It's a 2017 so the book value would be down. We'll see how that goes. I'm not a leech but I should get something for the pain and suffering, we'll see on that as well. I mean c'mon man.. rear view, side mirror, blind spot. That is day 1 of driver training.
Spoke to the police and the officer was great to deal with and also a rider that has gone down. They told me to take my time and go in to the reporting centre once I've healed up enough, We scheduled fro Tuesday but he said if that changes just let them know.
