I'm in the market for a scooter and have been perusing my local markets. I came across a BV 250 private sale, though it's listed at 80k+ mileage. However, the photo of the speedo shows 089041. The 1 is on the white speedo roller. In my previous experience I always thought that was tenths of a mile so I asked the seller if the 80k was accurate or a typo and they said accurate.

Yes, I believe you are right - I would expect that bike to have 8904 miles.

That last digit makes a lot of difference. The scooter is either going to be almost at the end of it's serviceable life or nicely run in. I'm pretty sure it will be the latter, having done 8904.1 miles.

Thanks, I might try to look up the user manual or something for certainty. Hate to drop 1300 on a bike at end of life because I guessed wrong.

Well since the two GTS 250 I was looking forward to sold, I've checked in with this seller. She starts the bike has 80k miles but this photo is the Speedo.... That's 8k miles right?

That's 8904 miles. If you buy it, even if the seller fills in the wrong miles, I don't think it will matter much. The title transfer ask for the mileage and it always states "no tenths".
