I have a 1965 Vespa Allstate that I have mechanically upgraded and am considering taking it from a rat scooter to one with at least nice paintwork (not concours by any means) .

My legshield is beat to shit, and the outer edges are wavy as hell. (it's basically a rat rod now)

If I do this plan on buying new side panels and a front fender as it will cheaper than having bodywork done on them, and I was considering if buying a complete SIP legshield replacement piece would also be more cost effective?

Does anyone have knowledge about having this replacement done?

not sure if it's just the edges that's the issue, but in case I'm wrong, scooter mercato sells a edge crimping tool. basically a 1/2" round steel welded to vice grips to massage the ends back to how they should be

I would need to do a little welding on the edges before even considering using a crimping tool, and even then I am unsure how it will turn out as the metal looks stretched out in spots.

And that doesnt take into consideration the waviness of the main legshield metal etc etc etc

Look for Lynn B thread on a similar year 3/4 leg shield replacement he did - came out great. Thread has been active past two years - so easy to find.

Also - he is a fellow Canuck - so there's that.

Replacing the whole thing looks like the easiest way to go.

You can even do something almost factory with a $150 spot welder.
