Hi all. Greetings from a very wet and windy Glasgow. NOT scooter weather at all. Which gives me time to make progress with the 04 Skipper that I've bought. I've stripped it down to nuts and bolts as it's lain for a couple of years. Worth doing as there is a lot of rust hiding under ....everything But the major problem is the forks. Yikes! They're dead. So looking for a replacement on eBay - new ones would cost more than the scooter did - most of the used items look pretty ropey too. So I'm wondering if there are any alternatives from other scoots. I believe that the Skipper shares forks with the Typhoon and the NRG, so there are a couple of options but was wondering if anyone could suggest any others? Would it be possible to change the whole stem to a regular(not upside down) set up if I could find parts with similar dimensions. All input gratefully accepted
All the best,
Stewart

Fork is serviceable and very simple but a pain in the ass to have it disassembled. I've done a lot of them over the years. They usually crap out cause the grease that's inside hardens and the "plastic" tube guides seize. The right leg only has a spring inside, a rubber stopper and grease. The left one has an integrated damper, a spring and again, grease. If you service it you won't need to replace it...

That's the damper that's inside the left leg...

Thanks SaFis but the fork bottoms need replacing too. Some of the mountings have sheared. Am hoping to get an alternative set cheaper than buying new parts.....
