5 years on a decent gel battery is pretty typical and recently when the battery in a 2016 BV wouldn't turn it over any more I bought a new one and changed it just like I'd changed the many before it......remove cables, take out battery, put in new battery and re-install cables. Now the scooter starts but won't continue to run, it won't idle..............why me ? The battery was charged accd. to mfg. instructions......even the "Charged" light came on on the charger. There are only two wires involved, a red and a black. The starter seems as strong as ever. Maybe I'll try a new plug..........

OK
Toss some fuel injector cleaner in the gas (I like Techron, but whatever) and see if that helps. Presumably just a coincidence, that this problem came along at the same time the battery died.

Had a similar situation in the spring a couple of years ago on mine, where it didn't want to idle, did the cleaner thing, and it cleared it up after the first ride. Dunno if the Sta-bil, which claims to be a fuel-system cleaner, might have shaken loose some crud that ended up in the injector, or what.

It will have to relearn idle. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect, and hold the starter button until it runs or 15 seconds.

My '13 does this too.

Appreciate all the assistance. Mr. Bueller seemed to have seen this movie before and had the solution to this problem. After following his directions, the motor idled slowly but at least fast enough to stay running long enough to accelerate. I got it up to speed and temperature and flogged it for 15-20 minutes. Seems fine now...........thanks again
