The thought of a sidecar appeals to me but I know so little about it, and I've spent all my funny-money for awhile. I bought a used John Deere gator for our 5 acres here so I don't wear myself out running over the 'hills' to plant stuff and watch stuff grow.
It's OK , one of our members here compared piloting a sidecar to a riding lawnmower! Actually I can see the comparison but they aren't exactly the same. For one the Ural is terrible at cutting grass.. It will however allow you to have some great adventures both off and on road plus manages the highway fine once you have a little skill so road trips are possible. It is happier on the side roads and in the country though. For the city they are a great replacement for a car if you need to schlep a lot of stuff. Lastly if you have a dog they will love rides in the sidecar.
Anyway the Ural came back from its spring tune up at the dealer yesterday so I'll be back on the road. Not a lot but at least I will be able to stop taking public transit and spend less time on my bad leg. Walking really does make it worse but impossible to avoid when taking the streetcar or subway. I have crutches but absolutely loath using them.
As far as upgrades. My last scoot was loaded with them but I'm not so sure I will go as far with the HPE. For now I'm thinking just windscreen and exhaust plus maybe shocks. Simple things like variator/roller weights etc I'll figure out down the road. For now I'm just looking forward to getting back on a Vespa and enjoying the ride.
