Well there goes my baby girl to salvage

As far as picking up the next one. I'll go to the dealership next week to look at it and decide on the farkle she will be getting. My injuries are getting better but there are complications so I'm still a while off riding a 2 wheeler. I had to ride my Vespa up our out of the parking garage and put her on the centre stand. I had the strength to pop her up but I could feel it afterwards. So I'd say still about 3 weeks off but we'll see. Sucks as the weather is getting beautiful but we are heading in to another 28 day hard lockdown so not like there is anywhere to go.

what I am pondering
The thought of a sidecar appeals to me but I know so little about it, and I've spent all my funny-money for awhile. I bought a used John Deere gator for our 5 acres here so I don't wear myself out running over the 'hills' to plant stuff and watch stuff grow.

Hey there, I have a Sei Giorni and the mods I have done....drum roll....
suspension Zelioni front and BGM rear (you'll appreciate upgrading),Kubler speed ring, J Costa Vario (quieter and smoother, Malossi clutch, Polini belt, Power 1 smoked indicators, Rizoma bar end mirrors and tail tidy, SIP rear carrier... and other bits which have toned down the look... leg shield beading and rear pax foot rests...
some may say waste of money, I say individualise!
A bike dealer once said to me, if you look back at your bike when you walk away you know you love it... I go out to the garage just to look at it... Happy Easter, let the chocolate flow!!

...I forgot to mention the Akropovic exhaust, black belt cover and black front suspension cover... I've tried uploading a pic, but the system won't allow me!

So many new parts the system did not have room for all of them!

It's OK , one of our members here compared piloting a sidecar to a riding lawnmower! Actually I can see the comparison but they aren't exactly the same. For one the Ural is terrible at cutting grass.. It will however allow you to have some great adventures both off and on road plus manages the highway fine once you have a little skill so road trips are possible. It is happier on the side roads and in the country though. For the city they are a great replacement for a car if you need to schlep a lot of stuff. Lastly if you have a dog they will love rides in the sidecar.

Anyway the Ural came back from its spring tune up at the dealer yesterday so I'll be back on the road. Not a lot but at least I will be able to stop taking public transit and spend less time on my bad leg. Walking really does make it worse but impossible to avoid when taking the streetcar or subway. I have crutches but absolutely loath using them.

As far as upgrades. My last scoot was loaded with them but I'm not so sure I will go as far with the HPE. For now I'm thinking just windscreen and exhaust plus maybe shocks. Simple things like variator/roller weights etc I'll figure out down the road. For now I'm just looking forward to getting back on a Vespa and enjoying the ride.

Looking forward to seeing the evolution of your HPE!

Mine is still stock, save for the speed ring.

Will do, just looking forward to getting back on 2 wheels and especially a Vespa. You have no idea how many people have asked me if I'm going to stop riding. Some are a little surprised when I immediately say no. I'm sure very few if anyone will get the reference but I was listening to High and Dry by Radiohead just today and it hit me again. There is a stanza in there that always gets to me about motorbiking and is special to me at least.

Flying on your motorcycle
Watching all the ground beneath you drop
You'd kill yourself for recognition
Kill yourself to never ever stop

Just got a call from Lou at Vespa Toronto and it's almost ready! I'm going with the Fact twin and black crash bars for now. He's going to see what we can do about an exhaust. Top case is back ordered but I can live with that for the next month or so. It'll be nice to be back on 2 wheels!

So next thread I start will be pics of my new white racing 60's Vespa!

*EDIT* Thursday May 13th and today is the day I plan on picking it up! I just realized tomorrow is Friday the 13th so maybe it's best I get it today.
