I was changing some parts on my '82 PX200. When putting it all together, I got confused regarding the brake brake cam, and the cam holder, and the large washer that goes with it.

First:
1. What is the reason for the brake cam holder? It's mounted so that it can pivot in it self. How should it be ajusted when mounted?
2. Where should the large washer be mounted, between cam and brake arm or inside the drum, closest to the brake shoes?

Ron Daley pic is for reference.

The other pics are my drum with out the brake arm mounted on the cam back plate.

That's like the PK style.

Here's a photo of one put together. For some reason this is missing in all the parts diagrams I see.

I've only seen the one-piece ones like the second photo.

Thanks hjo, nice build you've done!
Mine is a total rat bike in comparison.

Interesting with the PK reference. Mine is an early built model of the PX range according to my frame number.

I know the US models were a little different. Did you adjust the brake pivot retainer in anyway, do you remember?

Thanks

Thanks!! I am missing building a bike. I need a new one!

It looks like SIP has the exploded drawing. It's the bottom middle one here.

PK/S, etc.

I honestly can't see the utility of having the plate there. it looks like it's just acting as a spacer. And they removed the return spring, looks like.

Curious.

Wow! Great detective work, that's it!

Now I just need to figure out how to NOT make the brake arm bind up on the shaft when tightening it all together. It binds up against the outer part of the retaining shaft retainer. That's why I would have guessed the washer would go there.

Here's what a T5 brake arm looks like.
