Here are a set of Sprint Veloce cases that someone had used JB Weld on them. I took a Starret pin removal punch from inside the cases and used a little tap from a hammer and the temporary JB Weld came right off.

Anytime you break through or want to increase the thickness of the wall or width of the gasket surface, the real solution is to TIG weld up and mill to complete.

These cases are now ready for a VMC 177.

Very nice Gick! Clap emoticon Clap emoticon

The spotless cases always get me. Waterjet?

And do you do all the welding, or have someone that can do that magic?

Fantastic job. I'll be watching this engine build. Thanks for the pics!

Yes, in-house.

This engine will leave Indiana and head to the Californian coast.

Great example of why cases should be welded up before hand. Someone who has never ported a vespa case finds out the wrong way like the case example you just don't know unless you have 'experience'. Good thing it can be repaired and made better nice work Gick.

I see so much of this and it's unfortunate. Either TIG weld up the cases or drop off with a shop that can do it for you. It really does not cost that much and everyone wins at the end of the day. You have a better product and you are also putting food on the table of the shop that is doing it for you. I see people defending JBWeld and it's not a position to defend. anything worth doing is worth doing right.
