Relative newbie here, trying to give back a little, y'all have been very helpful.
The ET2 50 I was given out of the blue last year had what I thought was a broken turn signal switch. So I ordered one to have on hand for when I got into the spruce up wrenching project.
I removed the handlebar covers, and lo-and-behold! The turn signal switch looked fine; what was broken were the little mounting cylinders molded into the inside of the ABS handlebar cover. Two screws go thru the switch ears and into the cylinders. You can see a similar cylinder that's the mount for the instrument cluster off to the left in the attached picture.
After messing around to no avail trying to glue the cylinders back on with Gorilla Glue, here's what I did.
I took two gray wire nuts, trimmed them with a large pair of wire cutters, and screwed them to the switch. Then I removed them, trimmed again, did that a couple times to get the length right. These would be my replacement mounting cylinders.
Next I got some JB Weld PlasticWeld Epoxy Putty, which says it's made for ABS. First I scratched the vicinity of the cylinders with a file. Then I cut off about a 3/4" piece of the JB Weld putty, kneaded it up to mix, then worked a nice blob on each side onto the ABS and around the wire nuts. You can see the results in the pic. You can see a little bit of the wire nut on the right, just under the black switch ear, above the blob of epoxy.
While I haven't yet re-assembled (waiting on a clock battery from Amazon tomorrow), this thing is solid! Should work just fine.
