Hey all,

I'm working on a front hub/brake drum of a V90.
I'm having a difficult time taking the brake drum off. Any suggestions how it comes off? There aren't any bolts holding the drum in place. The hub moves freely. I just can't take it off.

I've included pictures.

Thank you for your assistance.

I haven't worked on a V90, so I can't speak of any weird quirks.

I have had an 8" wheel hub not want to come off even when free of bolts/screws. I applied heat to drum (but not center axle piece) and was able to hammer persuade it off.

Thank you.
What did you persuade off? Did you punch the axle through? Or punch the drum off?

Thank you.

On my large frame, axle was still secured via the nut. I beat the drum with a plastic coated hammer and had to work it back and forth (hit on opposing sides of drum).

Below is a thread that may help you. In there Rob Hodge recommends against beating the drum until moral improves. I would take his advise over mine as he has probably owned a few smallies.

It's been a while since I've done this. But be careful. Don't force anything. I remember there being a reverse thread in there somewhere. Soo take your time and do some more researching. Or maybe someone else here has the answer.

If I am not mistaken, the fifth hole is a threaded hole where a locating pin for the rim is screwed into (SIP part no 70542000) . You can screw a bolt into this hole and then push the hub away from the rear. However, be careful: if you strip the thread, no locating pin!
