I hate the AC, DC, AC CDI setup going on, it's just too much. Also, it's just not possible to do much about it in stock form. We cannot have the coils in a multiple of three for a delta or Y three phase setup.
Here's an idea, we can "downgrade" to an older vespa stator, like this one: (see #1 picture)
and simply replace every coil with a lighting coil, they sell replacement coil kits for just the lighting coils, see picture #2
We can then replace the stock CDI with a DC CDI, and BAM, we have a full DC setup.
I am considering that the older stator/coil setup may actually be less efficient than the current one converted to a DC setup with the AC CDI still in place since the coils are oriented differently.
Does anybody have specs on the charging system output of the older vespas that used the older setup?
If we did that, we could then hook it up like this:(pic #3) (source: https://www.homemade-circuits.com/understanding-motorcycle-voltage/ )
I am all for being a ginuea pig BTW, so if there's any doubt that it may or may not output more power than our stock setup I have no problem to give it a go anyhow just to find out.
Thoughts?
