I recently swapped seats on my 2015 Super Sport, and the new seat doesn't lock. I tried adjusting it, but no joy. Whilst trying to fix it today, I noticed that if I manually push down the latch (at the point the metal bar in the seat should sit) this goes down as it should, but doesn't lock into position. Is there a problem with the closing mechanism, or is it simply a matter of alignment of the new seat?

I have taken the locking mechanism surround off and recorded a short video. Maybe that will help you to identify where the issue is...
Thank you!

Looking at the video it seems that your seat lock is stuck in the open position.. Check the cable path to see if it has been pulled out somewhere therefore making the inner cable to short to reach the free position (locked)..

Thanks - your diagnosis makes a lot of sense to me: the lock is stuck open. I had a look at the cable (at least the little I can see without taking the frame apart) and it seems fine to me. Also, nothing has changed on the scooter (apart from the seat) that might have pulled it. Do you think that it could be the mechanism that has been pushed down too far or at an angle by the new seat catch, and got stuck somehow? So the problem is somewhere here rather than on the cable?

If the old seat worked o.k., but the new seat doesn't, put some washers underneath the bolts holding the locking mechanism to raise it up. The latch on the new seat is not extended down enough so you have to compensate by raising the entire locking mechanism upward.

Ok have a look at the picture of mine when the seat is open..

Do you see the difference? Or your latch is broken, or the cable is still pulling on the latch, either way in your picture it doesn't looks like the cable is releasing the latch back to be ready to lock the seat down again..

I hope it makes sense...

Here is an idea... With the seat open push the button and look at what the cable does (if the part where the red bit is) moves back and forward...

If it doesn't, that the problem as it doesn't allow the catch to retain the lock position...

Finally one question..

Is this cable being zip tied in the correct position?? Just asking...

Looks like the entire mechanism could use a good cleaning. At least when you find the problem it won't be hindered by another. Keep us posted and good luck.

When changing out seats, I found it is important to align the latch on the new seat pan. The two screws at the front of the seat allow some minor side-to-side movement as you tighten them down. On the Corbin seat I swapped from my previous GTS to the new one, I had to undo the screws and hold the seat so it was exactly lined up, then tighten the screws. Latches fine after making that adjustment.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have tried to lock the seat without attaching it to the frame at all, and it doesn't lock. So I am now pretty confident that the problem is in the latch. I will take it apart over the next few days and post an update.

That cable is far, far too tight. There's something pulling on it somewhere out of sight of the rear. Possibly the glovebox has been off at some time?

Hi, last time it was off it was months ago. And the latch has been working fine after I have put everything back together.

I can see from the exploded views that there is a joint between the cable coming from the glovebox and the final part, where the release solenoid is. I couldn't see it the other day, but later I will try to locate it.

My suspicion is that the new seat somehow pushed the latch too far down, and that the cable might have been dislodged from its position at that point...

Hi, I now have the same problem in that the cable is too tight and the seat catch is permanently open. Did you find out what the problem was?
