I believe a NSM member a few weeks ago posted about a broke case at the clutch slack adjuster. i just happened to repair a case this week with the exact same problem.

There was a problem with the original threading or perhaps the slack adjuster was broken and seized in the case. previous westcoast shop did a "repair" that consisted of removing much of the ear, threading a bolt into the case, and installing a bracket. the bracket held the slack adjuster-it didn't even thread into the bracket.

i removed the what was left of the ear and TIG welded up the case, machined for a new slack adjuster, and cleaned the area up with a Foredom. The results speak for themselves.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

pretty work.

did you make the slug first and then weld to the case? or did you weld and then do the machine work after?

i've seen that bracket trick before... (and no, it was not me who did it)

no. just weld it up thick and use a mill for the initial cut. then finished with a Foredom hand tool.
