Greetings,
I am almost totally new to the world of Vespas. My only experience with them was renting one while vacationing in Rome Italy some 20 years ago. To this day it's one of my all time favorite experiences.
Fast forward to today. I have been given my late brothers Vespa. (2007 LX 150) He loved the little machine. My idea is to get the machine from Los Angeles to the Philadelphia area. I'd like to get it running again, use it as an occasional summertime mode of transport and hopefully someday give it to his 5 year old son.
I am a mechanic by trade so the I'm confident I'll be able to sort out any mechanical issues once I have it in my possession but I have to get it here first.
Because the scooter has such tremendous sentimental value, the ultimate cost isn't a large concern but it's still a factor.
Does anyone have any experience or advice to help me accomplish the first part of my quest?
Regards
Craig

You could take a holiday and ride it back, (if it runs) and make it the second favourite experience... That would be my first choice..

Other than that, there should be several companies that do just that. Transporting motorcycle interstates..

From what I have seen you are looking at approx $750-$950 in shipping costs for that distance- pretty pricey.

First get the title mailed to you so you have it in hand, before you do anything. Those things have a habit of getting lost with older scooters. Trying to get a new title from the state of California could be problematic with your brother having passed away.

The Scooter Cannonball is being run this year from Bar Harbor, ME to Eureka, CA and there are folks that will be shipping there scooters from out west to the start in ME. Some are trailering them.
Perhaps you can hook up with someone or the shipper which may save some costs.
Also, people from the East will be looking at getting the scoots back from Eureka. There may be a mass shipment that you can get in on.

Call or text Denver James. we like to keep it in the family when we can. He is heavily involved in the vintage community, very reasonable rate and he knows what he's doing. He will transport any scooter vintage or not.

I have used and trusted him for a rare scooter LA to SOFLA no problem
https://www.facebook.com/scooterhauler/

Text and call him then give him some time. Just remember that he is on scooter time so don't expect an immediate answer and it may take a couple of months for delivery.

I was looking at buying a motorcycle from Scottsdale AZ recently, the estimate I arrived at w/ $20k insurance was around $1k, from motorcycle shippers dot com or some such. I am on the East Coast mid-Atlantic area for reference.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I did for a brief moment think about riding the Vespa coast to coast..... it was a brief moment.
I reached out to Denver James but haven't heard back yet. I'm not on any real timeline so I'm hopeful we can work something out.
Cheers

+1 on Denver James. Stand up guy who's a scooter guy first and foremost and he'll treat your scooter like it was his own.

He's on the road a lot so don't worry if he doesn't call right back, he will contact you.

Greetings,
Just wanted to update this thread. My brothers Vespa is somewhere between the west and east coasts!
Denver James is handling the transport. My sister in law said he was courteous and polite (even called her "ma'am ") He took care of everything.
I'm really looking forward to becoming its steward.
Thanks for the suggestion
I'll update again when it arrives.
Cheers

Excellent choice! I have handed a bike over to Denver James for shipping and it was a pleasant experience.

Welcome to MV. I'm so sorry that loss brought you here but I'm happy you arrived, nonetheless.

Ride and enjoy that scoot often, in your brother's memory.
