not even sure if its possible with modern vespas, and i know they arent meant for offroad, but i was wondering if there are anything that you can attach to your tires to be able to drive through, say a muddy back road on the way to a campsite or something like that, and then take them off once you get back to the highway.

if not all good, i know you dont use a vespa for offroading, haha, but thought i would ask anyways.

Post office uses chains on their Honda cubs in Japan ----motorcycle size wheel.

Scooter clearance problems I am sure with chains.

I always thought my 2 stroke Vespas went well in snow when I lived in Europe....on reg tires----used my PX150 as bike of choice for several Elephant Rallies.

Just develop riding skills for slow speed stuff.

gravel and a small amount mud is normally ok as long as you keep the traction control on until you get stuck and then briefly turn it off to get unstuck.

I wish it was quick and easy to change the rear wheel like the front is(?), if so I'd keep a spare set with some more suitable tires handy

maybe this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130-70-12-MAXXIS-M6024-Motorbike-Scooter-Tyre-On-Road-Off-Road-Knobby-/274218943220 or https://www.motorcycletyrewarehouse.com.au/kenda-big-block-13070-12-rear.

suggest googling "130/70-12 offroad"

Just get something wider with a flat profile so it will ride on top of the mud and not sink in.
