I did a search, but please feel free to direct me to any previous posts if relevant...

I'm considering a set of SIP tubeless on rims and just wondering if anyone has opinions on classic style tyre threads... These ones appear to be highly rated. But I'm also aware that your tyres are your connection with the ground, so want something with decent grip. Our weather conditions are not extreme... A bit of rain, a bit of sun and not allot of snow or heatwaves...

I bought these for my GL, the scooter isn't finished, so I haven't used them yet, but I like how they look.

I've just ordered the Heidenau K38 for the classic look. They look good, they're M speed rated, and they are purely TL. I tend to avoid tyres which are marked TL and TT, as they sound like some sort of compromise.

[edit] this refers to the 3.50 - 10 59JM TL

Thanks. You seem to have answered that the classic tread pattern doesn't necessarily impact road holding negatively. Once the tire is rated for the conditions.

To be honest, I'll not know until I'm riding on them. My other Vespas have sporty tread patterns (Raceman and K61), but I wanted the classic look for this particular build. Only time will tell, but the K38 sounds like it will provide good road holding and handling

What I should have said is that I feel more confident that they aren't terrible... If they were, there's be a few negative posts... The positive responses are reassuring...

Thanks for sharing.

I fitted a set of Pirelli SC 30's on my P125X, haven't ridden it yet except around the parking lot, but they seem fine so far, I can't say they handle any worse than the Typhoon 50 with some sport tires on it. If you go with tubes, make sure that the rims are spotless on the inside, any rust or other junk can wear through the tubes quite fast. Not a big issue on a slow moving tractor, but on a motorcycle doing 80 kph... The new split rims are around 20 euros from SIP, so not really worth the hassle cleaning the old ones. Nordlock washers are also really nice to put under the mating bolts to make sure they never come apart unintentionally.
