Piaggio X7 250, reborn in China

Strengthened by the alliance with Piaggio, the Chinese Zongshen "resurrects" the old X7 with a version destined for the domestic market. The single-cylinder engine already seen on the Aprilia SR Max 250 pushes it, the style is European and the attack price.

Zongshen X7
Disappeared from the Piaggio list, the X7 "returns" almost ten years later to that of Zongshen, a Chinese house with which the one from Pontedera has for some time entered into a commercial alliance.

The 244 cm3, 15.6 kW (21.2 hp) liquid-cooled single cylinder at 6500 rpm already seen on the Aprilia SR Max 250, presented in China during the last International Motorshow, pushes it. Less sporty than the SR and undoubtedly more dedicated to urban use thanks also to the short wheelbase of 1480 mm, the X7 is equipped with a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel with Zhengxin tires, a fork with 35 mm stanchions and a pair of shock absorbers. KYB. The headlights are full LED, while the braking system is equipped with ABS and combined braking, with a 260 mm front disc and four-piston caliper, while traction control is also standard. All for a curb weight of 182 kg. The instrumentation is modern and well-finished, consisting of a liquid crystal display with tachometer and speedometer, flanked by a speedometer and a needle fuel gauge. The price is attacking and, according to what Zongshen herself communicated, stops at 19,980 Yuan, corresponding to about 2,500 euros. However, it is impossible for it to come to us too: designed in this way, the new X7 is reserved exclusively for the Chinese market.

Is that a CN-250 engine? If I recall Aprilia at least used the Helix engine in one of their models.

The Piaggio Vespa engine is mounted on the X 7, the Piaggio model that fitted the Helix Honda 250 engine was the Hexagon 250; that engine was also mounted by Aprilia on the Leonardo 250.

I also had the Aprilia Leonardo ... it was the year 1996 (I like to change ...)
but 125 cc with Rotax engine ... a real wreck.

this is SO strange. Gas scooter market is China is soft right now due to massive push to electrify literally every vehicle. why wouldn't they export the bike to europe?

So this X 7 will have a Chinese copy of a Vespa engine? Clones will be turning up everywhere.

The answer is easy, Piaggio will have made an agreement not to saturate the european market where it sells other models.
